PLAYBACK --- OPERATION FLYING DUTCHMAN // POST-OP DEBRIEF

(Male) Agent. Need I remind you time is of the essence?

(Female remains unresponsive. Knocks can be heard on a metal door. The sound of a chair scraping the concrete floor. A door opens. Distant inaudible speech.)

(Male, barely audible) … are you sure?

(More distant speech. A door clangs shut. Then footsteps. Male sighs deeply.)

(M) Agent. The trail grows colder by the minute. I suggest you complete your report before we charge you with treason and …

(Female shouts) I had Ruby in a headlock then. Pinned her down desperately trying to help Baram. But I was too late. Nyx forced Baram between her legs and dropped her head first onto the deck, crushing her neck beneath her ass. Is that what you fucking wanted to hear? You fuck!

(The sound of a loud thwack, chains rattle and something hits the metal table hard.)

(M) What was your mission?

(F) To intercept the weapon system code named (audio redacted) in the hands of a smuggler before it vanished in the black market.

(M) Did you intercept said weapon system?

(Brief pause.)

(F) No.

(M) So you spectacularly failed your mission then?

(F) Yes.

(M) Listen. We know your partner got killed in action. We know the op went sideways because of outside interference. What we don’t understand is how YOU failed to do your job despite having the upper hand? Do you know what happens to traitors, agent?

(Female remains silent. Footsteps. A chair shifts and creaks when someone sits. Male asks one more question, very slowly and calmly.)

(M) Why is it that you are still alive?
