I’ve read this book a few times, so some answers to your questions: the characterization of Dracula in the book is far more powerful and complex than most vampires. He’s closer to an evil demigod than just an immortal that drinks blood. The ability to change appearance, including the shape and control of animals (the pack of wolves at his castle were *his* wolves). He can pass through tiny cracks as a wisp of smoke, disappearing entirely. And largely immune to harm from weapons The people that he turns are the more common vampires. *Edit. oops, 20 minutes later into the movie, Van Helsing says most of this.
