I think a good movie for American history of these early years would be Dances with wolves...you get insight into the American expansion towards the west and Of course our real history with the Real native Americans....Highly Highly recommend

2024-01-26 13:58:36 +0000 UTCI'm embarrassed and angry that anyone would ever be rude or make fun of your English skills, Biss. Ignore them. I'm learning foreign languages and it's not easy - when you're so accustomed to your first language - to assimilate the thought patterns required to speak another language fluently. It takes time and an actual rewiring of the brain to do this well. For the record, I think you're doing great speaking English and you have a lovely accent. Keep doing you, you're doing just fine. By the way, the four horsemen are many times not the same from one telling to the next. According to the Bible, the four are time, pestilence, famine and death with pestilence or famine often replaced by war in some translations.

2024-01-24 03:54:07 +0000 UTCI agree, I did like Wyat Earp more than Tombstone.
zynjams
2024-01-24 03:52:01 +0000 UTCMatty was never married to Wyat Earp, she just liked hanging around him and told everybody she was his wife. also Wyat never wrote that book about Doc Holiday, it was created for this movie.

2024-01-24 03:47:50 +0000 UTCDuring my 20-year military career I was fortunate enough to travel to Europe, Africa, Aisa and South America. Everywhere I went I was amazed at the number of people who spoke English as a second or sometimes third language. I always had a great admiration for anyone who made that effort as I agree with Michael (above) that it is a difficult language to learn. Being someone who has no affinity for language I held out nothing but respect for these people. It would never have occurred to me to mock someone for vocabulary or pronunciation miscues. So please know that for every troll who is rude to you there are 10 of us who hold you in very high esteem.

2024-01-22 16:16:37 +0000 UTCWyatt Earp is one of the most iconic Old West personalities in American history, perhaps second only to Billy the Kid. Kevin Costner did another take on the legend in his movie "Wyatt Earp". It misses some of the charm that Tombstone has (in spades, thanks to Val Kilmer and some excellent writing) but in many ways it might be the superior of the two movies. BTW for an entertaining look at Billy the Kid and the broader Lincoln County War of which he was a well known participant, you can watch the movies "Young Guns", and its sequel. Note "Young Guns 2" is the movie Jon Bon Jovi wrote "Blaze of Glory"" for - you reacted to this on your music channel a few months back, professing (like every girl I've ever known) your undying love for Jon's smile.

2024-01-03 20:05:01 +0000 UTCI had forgotten about the exit of cosmatos. If I recall correctly him and the actor who played RINGO almost went at it because of how poorly cosmatos was treating the cast and crew.

2023-12-29 12:28:06 +0000 UTCYeah, you’re absolutely right. I was thinking more about how Sheriffs cover a much broader area. If there’s a murder a Sheriff is in charge and a Marshal has no jurisdiction. But if a fugitive is on the loose, the Marshals take over whatever the Sheriff may have been doing just like your example with the FBI. 👍
MonoElm
2023-12-29 10:05:08 +0000 UTCAgreed on the cowboy detail but federal jurisdiction always overshadows any other area of government. The FBI comes in and tells the LAPD to stand down, the FBI typically can do that if it is within their national jurisdiction. Same deal with USMS :)
Joe
2023-12-29 09:43:38 +0000 UTCThe Cochise County Cowboys were a real group. They were the real group that the Earp brothers fought at the O.K. Corral. That’s not a legend, it actually happened. Only 3 men were killed that day, then Earp hunted down 3 more. That’s where the exaggeration is. Also, Sheriffs are not city/municipal. They are specifically elected to each county of each state. Marshals do not outrank Sheriffs, they just have different jurisdiction.

2023-12-29 06:33:59 +0000 UTCBISS if someone is being rude about your accent or how you pronounce words just ignore them. The English language is very difficult to learn if it's a second language and you are doing just fine. In this digital age we are in now people say things because they are bullies and would never say the things they say face to face because they are cowards. Ignore those keyboard warriors they ain't worth your time young lady.
Michael Aalgaard
2023-12-29 06:11:05 +0000 UTCcounty Sheriff's jurisdiction is within the county they serve and no more. And there are several counties within each state of the United States. US Marshalls jurisdiction is in every state of the United States.
Michael Aalgaard
2023-12-29 06:03:26 +0000 UTCVal Kilmer's performance as Doc Holliday in Tombstone is considered one of his best and ranges from hilarious to heartbreaking. Doc Holliday finds it humorous that after a violent life, he is dying in a bed without his boots on. "This is funny" were supposedly Doc Holliday's real last words, expressing a wry irony about dying barefoot and overheard by a nurse.
Michael Aalgaard
2023-12-29 05:53:28 +0000 UTCThe actor who plays Wyatt Earp is Kurt Russell and has had one job his entire life which is acting and has been doing it since the age of 12 back in 1963(60 years).

2023-12-29 02:16:56 +0000 UTCAgreed, Clint Eastwood’s character is iconic in cinema history!! Biss may find it interesting to know it’s a “spaghetti western”. This style western originated in Italy and became popular in America.

2023-12-29 02:13:28 +0000 UTCGeorge P. Cosmatos was fired very early in the filming of the movie. The real director was Kurt Russell, the actor who played Wyatt Earp! Many people feel that Val Kilmer, Doc Holiday, should have won an Oscar for this film. Val also played Iceman in the Top Gun movies. Kurt Russell now has a son who is an actor, his name is Wyatt.

2023-12-29 01:58:02 +0000 UTCThe U.S. Marshals Service was established for the protection of federal courts, judges, and capturing fugitives. It's a Federal agency (even today) but Sheriffs are city/municipal law enforcement, so yea USMS is above sheriffs 100%. Wyatt Earp was a legend. The whole Cowboy thing is a little contrived here as a lot of people considered themselves 'cowboys' but a lot of them were indeed outlaws and were eventually hunted by the Marshal's Service. Great reaction.
Joe
2023-12-29 01:53:53 +0000 UTCDoc always thought he would die with his boots on, in a gunfight. That's why he thought it was funny! Dieing with his boots off.

2023-12-29 00:41:18 +0000 UTCA bustle is a padded undergarment or wire frame used to add fullness, or support the drapery, at the back of women's dresses in the mid-to-late 19th century. Bustles are worn under the skirt in the back, just below the waist, to keep the skirt from dragging

2023-12-28 23:33:25 +0000 UTCI'm you huckleberry. A few things; laudanum is opium, very common back then. Very easy to get. Also Wyatt and Maddie weren't technically really ever married. She was his common law wife. That isn't explained very well in the movie, confuses a lot of viewers. Also the wives were all prostitutes before they were married. People were legitimately afraid of Doc. Because of his tuberculosis he knew he was going to die and did not fear death. They never knew what he might do. Although in reality he maybe killed only 2 people. Johnny Ringo is not one of them! The gunfight at the O.K. Coral is probably America's most famous folk story. The film is actually accurate about how it happened.
