Chernobyl Episode 5

Comments

Hey Bisscute! I just finished your reactions of this series (i binge watched the series yesterday to watch your reaction today lol) and what a series! My god this has to be one of the best ever! I really enjoyed your reaction and im looking forward to watch more. Im 22 and live in Germany and my Parents are from former East Germany (DDR) and i remember them telling me about Chernobyl etc.. it was scary for sure.. even for Germany. (Radioactive rain aka Fallout). Former West-Berlin reported a rise of Children with Down-Syndrome after Chernobyl... it was kinda scary that Chernobyl again made headlines last year due to the current war.. thankfully nothing happend.

This was a really good series. Thanks for watching with us. I still will never understand being a yes man when it comes opposite of your health and the lives of others. I really liked the"made up" woman scientist character to represent all the scientists helping. Thought that was very clever. Thanks for all your content!

OK, a deeply impactful series this is. It is important that everyone has to opportunity to learn about Chernobyl. Whether it's by watching this series or maybe just learning about nuclear physics as a possible career. There are profound lessons to be learned from this event. Thank you Biss for watching this series. A tough show to watch for sure, but a very well crafted, educational and emotionally impactful work of art. I'm very excited for the Haunting of Hill House. I believe it will be a creepy and intense experience. Mike Flanagan is one the best horror directors and writers right now.

It was communism in its arrogance that caused this catastrophic accident. It could of been avoided if they weren't concerned about their image and more concerned about how their incompetence would affect all of life on earth.

I actually know someone who was involved in building the new containment sarcophagus. she lives in London and her company helped build this thing. I will check if I still have some pictures she sent me when it happened. this last episode was the most important because it really explained what and why this happened. when I watched this series for the first time I was waiting for this from the first minute until they actually explained it. I am a chemistry and physics nerd so I understood maybe a bit more than the rest of people watching, still it was a very basic (baby) explanation.

Great reaction of this serie Biss, i recently watched it again just before i saw you posted it and it made me so happy to actually get to watch this with you and get your view of this and your experiance. There is a saying that lie hurts more than the truth in the end and that is surely a fact when it came to the sovject union. I'll give a huge thumbs up for the next serie you spoke of, The Haunting of Hill House

You made it through. Add yet another humbling fact of life to your collection. It wont be the last. I'm game for The Haunting of Hill House and eventually Oppenheimer. The Manhattan Project is yet another nuclear story that hits close to home for me with the way they handled nuclear waste near Niagara Falls. I don't think that information would come up during the movie. It's kind of a side detail I think, but maybe it will come up in the research you are doing. It goes by the name Love Canal. I'll give you a little teaser: Imagine taking radioactive waste from the production of nuclear weapons and making gravel out of it that you distribute to anyone who wants to make roads, personal driveways, etc. on the cheap. They have maps of Niagara County with known hotspots resulting from the use of this "enriched" gravel but don't know the full extent of where all it was used. I used to hear on the radio while attending college out that way of nurseries that tested radioactive next to children's cribs, etc. I don't know how bad the radiation was, but it's just one of those facepalm moments looking back at our past.

Great review. Awesome series. Now time for some Rocky 3 to elevate the mood. LOL

The ironic thing is nuclear energy is the most reliable and efficient form of energy we have today. It is also considered to be one of the cleanest and safest. Go figure
