My favorite change from this episode is that Koby is the one who presented Luffy his first bounty poster. Excellent way to change that up in order to make it more personal. Now, there's a lot of changes I didn't like in the first season. If you take out the whole Garp storyline, we literally could've had a good number of the stuff they took out, done here in the first season. Just flesh things out some more. Here, specifically in episode 8, I didn't like that Nami had to tell Luffy what she went through with Arlong. One of the big things with Luffy is his emotional intelligence, and him figuring out what Nami went through just by looking at her room in the anime just shows that without just outright telling us. They took out too much stuff in season 1 for the half-baked Garp storyline that wasn't necessary. Nothing in the live action hit like it did in the anime. They really didn't inject enough humor into it either. I'm not saying that it should be as ridiculous as the anime, because that just wouldn't work, but don't make everyone so serious. I will say that they did a great job with the Zoro-Sanji dynamic though. I think a couple of episodes would've helped out, too. Both Baratie and Arlong Park should've been 3 episodes each. I do find it funny that Ali's just sitting there crying her ass off while I'm here bone dry because of how little emotional resonance I feel watching the live action lol. Having said that, I'm still looking forward to season 2.

2026-02-11 19:53:29 +0000 UTCThe villagers not knowing in the Live Action is kind of lame compared to the anime, the part that hurt me more than "Help Me" was Genzo hugging her and saying that they knew the whole time and they were keeping her secret because that's what she wanted, way better that the village was behind her back the whole time instead of having them flip like this
