Gift of Hedone: Dash Abilities for Classes
Added 2025-06-25 23:00:01 +0000 UTCHello you wonderful deviants,
The good ol' dash ability. A staple in 2D platformers. I am pretty set on what I want for the Rogue and Sorcerer:
Rogue: Typical horizontal quick Point A to Point B half a second dash
Sorcerer: Blink/Teleport from Point A to Point B
Warrior: ??? - I got nothing...
I was hoping to give each of them a unique dash animation as something easy to do, but give the classes some unique qualities.
But I cant really think of something, the only alternative is maybe give the rogue something else, and give the Warrior the standard dash?
I would love to hear your feedback or suggestions below, maybe games that have done this well?
Also consider that the base Dash will not be a damage dealing move, just a movement based thing to maneuver around. (Im considering having the Dash have a damage dealing aspect as an upgrade - maybe, but would still need a base/foundation)

Thank you so much for the feedback Tommy!

If you want to branch off with the combat ability convept then you could have it shoot a volley of arrows in front of them.

Rogue could have a poison mechanic with it's roll or you give them a shadow step behind a target that back stabs. Then warrior shield bash would fit in the rest of the way varying based on play style if it knocks back for the warrior to cleave or if you only move through the target damage as you pass for a source of repositioning.
