2026-01-18 14:20:59 +0000 UTCWell consider that with mana becoming a resource preciously found only in limited quantities from living beings a lot of spells that presume the ready availability of the stuff in the world at large will suddenly become non-functional. Like, imagine if for some mysterious reason electricity became only possible to store in smaller batteries, nothing bigger than a mobile phone sized charge-pack? We would have to rework so Much of our infrastructure and technologies, even cars would suddenly have to be engineered around having such a limited quantity of stored electricity to work with, maybe some kind of built in slot that people will use to switch to a fresh charge pack every so often for the various smaller things a car runs off of its battery and electric cars would become pretty much impossible. No doubt we'd wind up losing a lot of knowledge and tech in the process too, so yeah I could see how the mana of the world mostly going away could lead to a sharp downturn in magical know-how.

If Alice thinks they can't she should demonstrate. "If you were deeper in this dungeon, or outside, you would be in a terrible situation." No, they'd just sip a bit of potion to stay alert when on watch and take the next day easy (or a stamina glyph, but she doesn't know about those). If they were alone deeper you wouldn't be butting in to tell people they're in trouble against an enemy they can't punch to death after insisting they shouldn't arm themselves.

The owl probably took some residual damage from being in contact with it, but that was IRRELEVANT as soon it was "bit" in the neck by a magical snake apparition that coiled around it and injected it with magical poisons.

2026-01-17 09:41:38 +0000 UTCI personally believe that Lily and Alice's disconnect has more to do with Lily's very legit anger and resentment towards her parents and Alice's clear idolization of them. I mean Lily's parents are apparently really famous and yet Lily didn't know their names. Makes me think that Lily very deliberately ignored their existance. Now here is Alice singing the praises of at least Lily's mother, which i think has inadvertantly turned Lily's suppressed anger on her. Which is why Lily keeps assignig negative reasons for all of Alice's actions.

Like i get that she is misunderstanding Alice's reactions but her attempting to talk back at her is completely different from normal. Honestly i hope that this is more a side effect of her stunted growth that gets revelealed because i really want our normal lily back.

2026-01-17 07:44:57 +0000 UTCI wonder how old this new era of magic is? While i do not expect any civilization to match Erekiel in magical knowledge they do seem rather primitive? For example why do they not have an active way to gather monster essence? From what Lily just observed unless your a greedy dragon passively absorbing mana leaves a lot on the table. I would have expected that to be one of the first things a magic school with a dungeon would teach and yet there is no mention of such techniques. Shrug, even the school's signature spell familliar summoning seems to not have a lot really known about it. Either this school isn't very good at teaching and just banks on having a massive dungeon to boost people or this era of magical knowledge is still very young.
