Been redesigning and fiddling with Melissara's true forms. Her race are shapeshifting humanoids that can willingly change into any creature they've acquired DNA from (I.E. eating them).

But they have two natural states; humanoid and beast. The humanoid form is capable of casting magic, and utilizing artifacts that harbor arcane energy. The beast form, larger, tougher, and stronger than the humanoid form is used primarily when hunting larger prey like dragons. They are not able to cast, or use magic in this form. So they only use it when they hunt in packs to overpower their target.

Batinicus as a beast when fully grown, grows to about shoulder length of an adult male dragon. While not strong as their quarry one-on-one, they utilize strategy and numbers to bring down their prey.

Batinicus reside in clans as small as six, or as large as 20 members. Most are related to one another in some form or fashion, but before their banishment from their home world, solitary Batinicus male and females join other clans in search of mates.
