DEV BLOG 003 - Lights (Filter vs Handmade)

It took me a while even with online tutorials till I finally figured out how to add automatic lights to objects. Adobe Animate suggests to use HTML5 as default, but for whatever reason, that one cannot use the "Inner Shadow" filter, which basically is a shadow, but if I turn up the brightness, it becomes light which can save a lot of time in animation. I also added another filter to reduce brightness and contrast.

Left is the filter version that needs to be set up once and follows the character, even if moved, rotated or transformed. The right one was my version where I changed the vector elements one by one to imitate something similar.

I think both have some pros and cons, and while the right one can have more details and more accurate "3D" lighting, the left one looks more like what they use in the actual show (which is my goal). PLUS, I don't need to make hundreds of separate sprites with different light settings. Once I turn off the filter(s), the colors are all back to normal.
