Hey, everyone!
If you’ve played the latest update of Hypnosis already, you probably noticed the announcement at the end which reads, “a new chapter of Endowed is on the way!”
People keep asking about it, and rightfully so, as it’s been two years since the last update, which is pretty crazy. This is mostly due to Episode 14 of Hypnosis taking a full year, but also the fact there have now been 4 updates for Hypnosis since the last time we played Chapter 5.
In that time, I’ve continued outlining and writing for Endowed, allowing the extra time spent in the back of my mind to help put more of the pieces together. Recently I had several revelations for the game. Mainly how to pick up the pace, how to amplify the plot elements already there, and how to make the existing content more engaging by raising the stakes.
So, I have some work to do! First, I’ll be making a quick little Christmas update involving Kat and Allison after the events of the Going Home Ending. I’ll also clear up that branch by making a better roadmap of the 10 different endings and labeling them so they are easier to find, especially for the content each one offers, including the new path.
In the past in working with holiday specials for Hypnosis I came to the realization they don’t really work outside of the main story, which was why the Halloween content will all be incorporated into the main story instead of existing outside of it. When a game offers multiple endings, why not make everything part of the main story? So I’ll continue this approach with Endowed by not making “what if” stories separate from the game but instead using them with the multiple endings or part of the main narrative.
The next piece of Endowed will be to rework a few scenes, mainly the opener and adding a few subplots and character choices throughout. I’ll go over it more later, but my main goal is to give the player more agency over the main character. What exists in the game now is mostly the Nice Guy content, and I planned to lead to more splits in future updates. However, as several have pointed out it’s been taking a while to get there, I want to give more range in choices earlier in the game.
In Hypnosis we have the Boyfriend/Badass paths, also known as the good and evil choices. This is mainly reflected with how he uses the watch (and how often), and we’re only now really seeing bigger results from the split in the path. With Endowed I want this divergence to happen earlier where the choices will be given more weight. The way I plan to handle the difference will be based on the main character’s reputation.
Each chapter will have at least one choice which will either raise or lower the main character's reputation. A good reputation makes the people in his life trust him more, a bad reputation makes them trust him less and lower their expectations of him. There will be benefits to both paths, and some scenes will only be available on one path or the other.
I’ll make an effort to make the benefits fairly evenly spread between the two, but the majority of content will simply be different versions of the same scenes. A couple characters will be locked in one path or the other, but these characters will be minor ones and not a major part of the story.
This will serve several purposes, namely giving more replay value to the story and allowing the game to be more customized to the player’s style and preferences. As with Hypnosis, a neutral path will also be available, allowing the player to interact with each character the way they like, whether by treating them nicely or badly to see how each character reacts, and how the game responds overall.
So, depending on how long the updates take, we’ll likely be looking at either two or three updates in total: The Christmas update, the Bad Reputation update (which will also polish up the unfinished content from Chapter Five) and a new update for Chapter Six.
Lately updates for Hypnosis have been taking around three months, but I’m hoping to get all three of these updates for Endowed finished up around that time. Then, the next Hypnosis updates will both be smaller, with the second half of Episode 15 and a standalone update for Leah specifically, polishing up and adding more to her path, with the addition of a solo ending.
From here on out I plan to do a similar structure: One small(ish) update for Hypnosis focusing on a solo girl, followed by a continuation to the main storyline, followed by a new chapter of Endowed.
This time Endowed gets extra focus since it’s been so long, but normally updates for Endowed are a bit smaller in scope than Hypnosis, so the total split will still be around 2 parts to Hypnosis to 1 part Endowed. Maybe that will change in the future if you guys decide you’d rather move to a 1/1 split when Endowed starts to pick up more, but I’ll leave that to a vote in the future.
In the meantime, I also plan to continue/finish up Taylor and the other existing stories more. Apologies for the abrupt stop to the story. Originally I thought I had an ending I was happy with and could post the story all the way through, but as I reworked it, I realized the story has too much potential to focus on several different kinds of content and fetishes, and trying to fit them all into one ending doesn’t really make sense.
Obviously I’ve dabbled with multiple endings before, but this time feels like the format is even more fitting. So I’ll post the first ending in the near future, with more to come, which I’ll post about more later.
Also, apologies for the Links and Resources post disappearing. It was taken down for some reason, and I'm not even sure why, so I'll probably just post a new one to replace it.
Alright, I'm going to get back to it.
Thanks, everyone!
