2024-01-21 07:58:33 +0000 UTCEp 49 I agree that it is awful, that everyone else found out before Prince Jing and the way he found out wasn't great as well. But on the other hand this way he showed genuine surprise, confusion and disbelief in front of the Emperor. The Emperor is so easily suspicious of others, if Prince Jing hadn't been thrown by the information, if he had already known then he would have immidiately defended Lin Shu and the Emperor would have realised that Prince Jing knew Mei Changsu was Lin Shu (who to him is considered a terrible criminal) and it would have turned him against his son. Which was pretty much what Xia Jiang was aiming for. So I guess that means that Lin Shu was right in not telling him? But I'm pretty certain, that the place in the last scene is the palace of Prince Jing's mother so he probably went to confront her. It must hurt so much, knowing that not only Mei Changsu/Lin Shu but even his own mother lied to him and actively deceived him every time he asked or confronted them about this. I can't wait for the next episode but I also kind of don't want to watch all that hearbreak that will surely come... Greetings from Germany and sorry for the long comment ;P

2023-08-26 10:39:29 +0000 UTCEp 44: :D Jeanet, we don't have the budget for several episodes of battle, so one episode had to suffice. But what a battle it was! Full of strategies and guerilla warfare, they really put everything they could do in this episode, when it comes to fighting with fewer numbers. It is so well done! And nerve-wrecking! I was also convinced that we would lose at least one, if not more, people on our side! And then this dramatic scene with Zhen Ping and Yuyjin! The look shared between Su Zhe and Marquis Yan T.T ♥ They really tried to play us there, damn brilliant show-writers! And Princess Nihuang is back!!! ♥ Aren't you curious what will be going down in the next ten episodes? :DDD I'm glad you got back from your very bad week ♥(hugz)♥ really, take your time and catch your breath. ♥♥♥ Thank you for the wonderful reaction, with it's kinda hilarious stressful pausing ;D

2023-07-18 14:40:06 +0000 UTCEp 42 & 43: I knew there was a reason why I waited for the two episodes to be out before watching your reactions :D Who decided to split the meeting of Su Zhe and Consort Jing? It is one of the best scenes! It always brings tears to my eyes! Our usually so composed and calm Consort Jing just starts crying when she feels his pulse and realizes just what pain and torture her Xiao Shu had to go through and is still suffering, and it just breaks my heart every time! T.T Also Prince Yu is rebelling! The tension is high! But it brought us the most hilarious and shippable scene!!! ♥♥♥ The squeel that escapes me everytime Su Zhe just naturally pulls Prince Jing's sword to point at the map and then the dawning horror on his face when he realizes what he did ( with the immediadte flashback to show us that he used to do this all the time when they were teens ♥). :DDD I was like: HE KNOWS! SURELY HE KNOWS NOW! when watching this the first time. And then they just talking about their strategy like reading each others minds, while Commander Meng looks at them like: I can't follow, I don't speak married. (Not to mention, the expression when Prince Jing realizes that: yeah, I didn't say anything about the secret pass, how did Su Zhe know...? And then just: Let me guess, Princess Mu? And Su Zhe just quietly: sure, yeah the Princess told me... AHHH!) And your reaction was absolutely brilliant! ♥♥♥ That was me watching this the first time. :D ♥♥♥ (Also, also: Prince Ji was looking at Tingsheng because now that the boy is healthy, clean and fed, he resembles his father, the executed Prince Qi, at that age and he noticed. As you might also have noticed, he didn't tell or asked the emperor about it, but Yujin, who he probably suspects is working for Prince Jing. Prince Ji is way more shrewd than he seems, I suspect. He just uses it to live his life and not get in the way of his brothers ruling. I imagine he is the only living brother of the emperor for a reason. But these are just my thoughts, I have no idea if it's true or not.) Thank you for these wonderful reactions! ♥

2023-07-04 20:01:00 +0000 UTCEpisode 40! ♥ Don't we just love it when Prince Jing is confronted with the truth and all the mistakes he made in this convoluted scheme? :D I know I did, the first time watching this. I was a lot like: See?! Now feel the guilt! Mhmmm, delicious. :DDD Which was really mean, but I was so frustrated when he fell for the scheme, because he should have seen it coming. It was bound to happen, that Prince Yu would start to move against him and use lies and misinformation to bring discord between Prince Jing and Su Zhe. (Especially as Prince Yu felt betrayed by Su Zhe.) Prince Jing should have thought things through for a whole moment, before jumping to all the conclusions Prince Yu wanted him to jump to... So I was very much very gleeful in this episode ^^° Also: Consort Jing! ♥♥♥ Reverse psychology who? :D Her whole conversation with the Emperor was so good! And now she has an opportunity to meet her long lost favorite nephew!♥ Also the line of: "Of course not, he would never have done that (to me)". T.T ♥ Breaking my heart. It's so sad, because she knows xiao-Shu is alive, but all she hears is that Mr. Su is very sickly and nobody recognizes him for who he is; he obviously didn't tell Prince Jing who he is and she has come to her own suspicions about that, as she is a doctor herself. Another reason, why she doesn't tell Prince Jing as well, I suspect. Thank you for this fantastic reaction! ♥

2023-06-13 19:15:53 +0000 UTCOh new format :D Sooo, this is Episode 39: The maybe redeemable and the not so redeemable Xuanjing Bureau Agent is cracking me up. I agree about them. I don't know if you missed the line in this episode, but the maybe redeemable one is actually Xia Dong's (twin (in the books)) brother, not just her martial brother. So it's understandable why he wants to understand what made his sister make these decisions. ♥ It is always SO satisfying to see Mei Changsu's schemes come to fruition, the way he understands peoples reactions is just: chef's kiss! Also: Prince Yu immediately saying: I've got nothing to do with the Xuanjing Bureau case, when he's been summoned for something else entirely. :DDD He's really not very flexible or patient. At least our poor strategist is now out of prison and home with people that know and care about him. And Prince Jing is free of the accusations. ♥ Thanks for this wonderful reaction!♥ Can't wait for the next episode! ;D

2023-06-04 15:57:57 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine :DDD It is just SO good, isn't it! ♥ This whole scheme is so brilliant and we're just over here hanging on every word and scene. There is a reason this is one of my favorite arcs and one of them is pure gremlin Mei Changsu confronting Xia Jiang with all his faults and twisting everything he says into a trap until Xia Jiang has no other choice but to poison him ♥♥♥ Also the brilliance of telling the truth without telling the truth. "Did you belong to Prince Qi's household." Indeed. Xia Jiang is so close and yet so far away from the truth, it makes you tense like a bowstring. Also yes, Prince Ji is the emperors younger (and only still living) brother. I loved your delight when Commander Meng (Meng Da-Ge!♥) was mentioned. He is just ♥ I was thinking several times during the reaction: how did this episode end again? And then shortly before it happened, I realized it. I remember binging this show in two weeks because it just has horrible cliffhangers and every time I had to stop, I was like: "Nooooooo T.T" So I relate a little bit with your pain. Looking forward to next week! ♥ Thank you for this delightful reaction!♥

2023-06-01 10:15:00 +0000 UTCPandora Never underestimate Consort Jing! Pandora The red pill Mei Changsu is taking is part of his regular medicine, the bottle was given to him by Lin Chen in episode 1 Pandora This is another great episode. Mei Changsu's power walk, all regal and commanding when the two antagonists come face to face. He's so hilariously irreverent and unafraid during this confrontation. And of course he proceeds to drink all of Xia Jiang's terrible tea. The incredulity on Xia Jiang's face when be begins to realize that he just may have met his match in Mei Changsu. Pandora Oh, and the song is indeed sung by Wank Kai, aka Prince Jing. The title song is, of course sung by Hu Ge (Lin Shu/Mei Changsu) Lisa Kleine Oh, another episode! I was wondering why the last one under the tag was from 2 weeks ago ^^° well, more for me to enjoy ♥ Lisa Kleine I just love how the empress and Prince Yu shot themselves in the foot with accusing Consort Jing at that exact time, because it did arise the emperors suspicion on all the accusations against Prince Jing as well. Also, so lovely that the Xuanjing Bureau can investigate the case that involves themselves... surely they will not forge evidence to clear themselves... what a clever thing to grant them, emperor... (so much sarcasm) The whole conversation of: "I don't know Mei Changsu all that well." and then promptly being his most fervent defender, aww Jingyan, your friendship is showing. We love you because of it, but it's causing problems right now ♥ (It's also funny, because Su Zhe tried so hard to be a man who Jingyan would not grow close to and trust, and he fails so spectacularly.) Also, the pill Su Zhe takes before Xia Jiang arrives to take him away is a heart saving pill, so that he wont die in the next few days because of his condition. Mei Changsu's walk into the jaws of hell with all the confidence is really the best shot. The gates opening in slow motion and him standing there waiting all regal and confident. Ugh, so good! His gremlin attitude towards Xia Jiang and the bureau, I love him so much. He knows he's the smartest person in the room and loves to rub it in. Especially with Xia Jiang, who thinks he himself is the smartest. Consort Jing remains to be the best! ♥ She was pulling strings and all of it leads to getting Jingyan out of a bind and getting him the confession that will clear up this knot in his relationship with Su Zhe. Best mom. Best aunt. ♥♥♥ Now, it's 2am in the morning (which explains my rambling, so sorry :DDD). I enjoyed this reaction so much! Thank you ♥

2023-06-01 10:14:07 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Oh yes. The conclusion of the rescue, the confrontation with the emperor and Consort Jing being accused, it's such a good episode. But next episode will involve my absolute favorite camera shot of the entire series. I'm pretty sure you will know when you see it :) The shot in the ending that was new to you occured in the first episode, when Mei Changsu was introduced. It's been a while, so yeah :D Also concerning the accusation to Consort Jing, I have the feeling you have forgotten a very important fact about it, but it will be resolved in the next episode, so I'm not saying anything now ;D These are some of the best episodes in my opinion, but more really good stuff is coming, which I am also looking forward to. 2023-06-01 10:11:34 +0000 UTCPandora I may be late in the game, but I am so happy that you are doing NIF, it is my all time favourite show! Pandora Btw, the uncensored version of NIF is also available on Viki and it does have great subtitles. Lisa Kleine Marquis Yan and Yujin doing the most in this episode ♥ I just love them so much. They're fully committed to the cause because they too have lost people they loved and/or are living with people who have grieved the people who have been killed unjustly. Marquis Yan is so bitter and salty towards Xia Jiang, who is one of the men at fault for the whole Chiyan army conspiracy and I live for every scene with them. Also the whole rescue scene is just wonderfully twisty, just you wait ♥ The tension is so real in this episode!

2023-06-01 10:09:53 +0000 UTCPast Comments Pandora The confrontation between Mei Changsu and Prince Jing is one of my favvourite scenes. I agree, Prince Jing is finally managing to heed logic and see the bigger picture, which he needs to do as a competent ruler. But the way Mei Changsu is getting through to him! For a moment there, he is full on Lin Shu, dropping all honorifics, yelling at Prince Jing, using his first name and basically calling him a stubborn idiiot for not using his brain. And it works. He gets through to his water buffalo on an emotional level and convinces him to use logic and reason and to trust him to come up with a plan. Magnificent. Lisa Kleine Oh, another of my favorite scenes! ♥ Xiao Jingyan is very much like his father in this episode, in that he believes the story he is told without proper evidence and judges hard and fast. BUT he is capable of turning around and be humbled, to see reason and accept Su Zhe and his help back into his life without clearing up the incident with his mother. Also the "Oh" expression on Xiao Jingyan's face when he learns that the Jiangzuo Alliance already attempted a rescue is pure gold. The "Xiao Jingyan, you stop right there!" will always live in my heart. Forever. ♥ Thank you for this wonderful reaction! ♥ (I finally have the time to catch up again! ♥

2023-06-01 10:08:45 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine :DDD Minister Shen just spouting curses at Prince Yu in front of the emperor's hall and Minister Cao just bringing forth all the evidence against Prince Yu, while he tried to defend himself against the claims of receiving bribes :DDD I just love the ministers on our side, they're just fearless. ♥ And now Prince Yu knows that Su Zhe is no longer on his side, or more exactly, has never been on his side. Yes, he was drinking for two weeks straight, because Prince Yu is a dramatic bit** (affectionate). We knew the Director of the Xuanjing (?) Bureau would come back at some point, let's see what happens. And Yan Yujin is back! Yay! 2023-06-01 10:05:17 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine And the journey of the travelogue finds an end. :D There exists a meme with Prince Jing and the travelogue overlaid with all these calculations and question marks and it just perfectly describes this scene :DDD He knows for sure that something in that book contains a secret he is not supposed to find out, and he knows his mom found it, from her behavior, but he can't for the life of him, figure it out. Poor man deserves a hug. Commander Meng is really our best man in this series ♥ he tries so hard, even if he does not succeed, his heart is always true. I understand what you mean, but I kinda like the montage: we get to know that time moves on without big incidents, Prince Jing is now a political player in court, establishing himself, having meetings with his supporters and men and of course planning and working with Su Zhe. I think it would have dragged unneccessarily if we had several scenes with actual different cases. Also, I love the scenes were Prince Jing and Su Zhe share a desk, it seems very... close? Intimate? Not so much a Lord and his subject, more like friends plotting together? And as soon as a real case lands at their feet, we do get to find out how these discussions at court turn out. Sadly, Prince Yu still has more experience and wins for now. We all know Prince Jing is not going to let that go, though. I love that Minister Shen came to Prince Jing and trusted him enough to bring this case to him. That he trusts him not to take most of the money for himself, like the other princes apparently have done all these years... Also the other Minister at court, who got Prince Jing out of some tough spots with his arguments ♥ Our baby is getting all the support ♥ Deservedly so ♥ :D Thank you for the lovely reaction! ♥♥♥

2023-06-01 10:03:09 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine The saga of the travelogue continues once more :D it is one of my favourite story threads ❤️ Commander Meng is the worst liar and it's what we love about him :D prince Jing clearly agrees, as he doesn't confront him about it too much, which does not mean he let it go though. This episode has one of my favourite scenes and that's the water buffalo reveal: just the pure acting alone is fantastic. Prince Jing's expression goes from friendly teasing Fei Liu to quiet devastation. And then Su Zhe comes along with a perfectly reasonable explanation and Prince Jing doesn't know what to think anymore. I just love them, all of them so much! The whole scene was pure gold. On another note, Consort Jing deserves the whole world. Imagine caring for the man while he laments that he's not as harsh in the judgement of his sons anymore, all the while thinking: "the last time you judged one of your sons harshly, he was executed and his mother, my best friend, was given the white silk to kill herself honourably..." The whole world, I tell you. Also Eunuch Gao... Wow, I did not notice this the first time I've watched this, but he totally manipulated the Emperor into going to the eastern palace for a walk, didn't he? Or did he? It could be read as such 🤔 all the scheming is making me suspicious 😂 always discovering new things on every rewatch. ❤️ But: enough of my ramblings (the shared looks of knowledge between Su Zhe and Prince Jing, though ❤️❤️❤️)! Thank you for this wonderful reaction! ❤️❤️❤️

2023-06-01 10:02:39 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine And the mystery of the travelogue continues ♥ :D Banruo has set her net up to catch Sir Su, let's see if she succeeds. On another note: I love Su Zhe's bodyguards, they respect him, sure, but they're also not afraid to call him out. Like the parallel Su Zhe was lamenting of Yan Yujin and Xiao Jingrui vs. him and Prince Jing and Li Gang just: "well, I think you're still best friends, even at this distance you maintain, stop being so dramatic about it." :DDD Also, I love how upset you are about the cousin/sister (? I'm actually not sure what exact relation she has with Jingrui?). I get it, but she's probably in her late teens and in the world of ancient china, children lived in their fathers house, so she thinks she's in the right? Also, she does not know these people, and probably loves her uncle/father very much and has seen how much he's suffered in the past years with his heartbreak over it. But yeah, she could have explained herself a little bit more. Also, also: I don't think she knew to what extent the bomb of Xiao Jingrui not being the son of Marquis Ning would explode. I don't know if she knew about the assassinations and such. That just spiraled off from her revelation with the help of the musician lady. But yes: she is hopelessly naive and stubborn and has no regard for the upset she has caused. Also, I always thought the letter arriving to tell her her uncle (I'm pretty sure it's her uncle ^^°) has fallen severely ill and is asking for his son was very convenient... especially after she was so soundly denied before... but who knows. 2023-06-01 10:01:59 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Yeees, the travellog! :D I'm looking forward to all the scenes! Also, Commander Meng ❤️❤️❤️ almost falling over in shock when Prince Jing enters the tunnel and quickly trying to explain why he's there in a way that doesn't show how close exactly he is with Su Zhe :DDD I'm so sad Commander Meng's wife was never mentioned in the show, I understand why, as she didn't have many appearances in the book either, but such a relationship is always very characterising in my opinion. If you want to know, It's going to be in the double ellipses, otherwise skip the next little part now: ((Commander Meng is married to one woman and after they couldn't conceive a child together, instead of marrying a second wife, as is customary in this setting and his status, he adopted a son from his cousin. It's a character detail I really like and that shows that his heart is not easily swayed, but is steady and loyal to every person he sets it on.)) I agree with the show being good at keeping the viewers attention when going through the political spiels. They split up the scenes with others in a way that doesn't get boring and still gets the message across :) I have to admit, I was very biased watching the show for the first time :D I was always like: "nooo, not Prince Yu again, go back to Su Zhe explaining his schemes, please!" ^^° Thank you for another wonderful reaction ❤️ have a wonderful rest of the week! ❤️

2023-06-01 09:58:04 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Aaaah, one of my favourite episodes! ❤️ Happy Valentine's Day to you as well! 💖 So, first of: Grand Commander Lin Xie of the Chiyan Army is Lin Shu's (Su Zhe's/Mei Changsu's) father. Lin Shu (xiao-Shu for Prince Jing ❤️) was a Marshall of that same army, he was about 18/19 years old when his father was accused of rebellion together with Prince Qi and consequently the whole army was slaughtered. He had seen Xie Yu (Marquis Ning) on the battlefield that day, so he knew he had something to do with it. Also, never forget that he had 12 years to plan and research all this, and he has the power of the Jiangzhuo Alliance at his fingertips. So, he could extrapolate from the list of assassinations by Zhuo Dingfeng for Xie Yu and the timing of that assassination, that Li Congqing' murder had something to do with this. It is a whole other thing of course, to find out for real, what happened. That Vanguard Commander Nie (Xia Dong's husband), who had trained Lin Shu and who he had trusted, did not betray them in any way. That all this came to be, because of 2 people and the Emperor's distrust. Remember the Emperor only got the throne because of his 2 best friends Marquis Yan and General Lin Xie helping him. And because of a letter, that same Emperor doubted that friend so much, that he sent an army to kill Lin Xie, his whole family and the 70 000 people of the Chiyan Army, without a trial. The Chiyan Army was associated to Prince Qi, as his mother is Lin Xie's sister (so Su Zhe's aunt) and thus, he too was executed for high treason shortly after. Yeah... Su Zhe has to digest that and I love that his doctor understands that. Prince Jing as well, he finally after years of only having his conviction and his trust in his best friend and also his brother, has proof of their innocence. The relief and the guilt has to be enormous, argh this poor man! Also yes, his father has not granted him the title of 'noble' prince yet, even though he should have been granted the title from his merits and age alone, so Prince Jing is only allowed to enter the palace and thus visit his mother, on certain days (I think it's once a month? But I don't know exactly.) Now, the conversation with Prince Jing and Su Zhe. Su Zhe has to maintain a role here. He is just a strategist. Prince Jing has no idea that Su Zhe has anything to do with the Chiyan Army case or any related issues. And Su Zhe wants it to remain like that, he can't be the one to bring it up. So Prince Jing has to take the initiative here, he has to 'order' him to continue investigating the case. I also always saw this as a test for Prince Jing by Su Zhe. To see if the best friend he remembers is still there and willing to risk the throne for the truth about the Chiyan Army case to be revealed. Which of course he does :) Woah, I'm rambling again... 😅 Well, I hope it could help and answered some of your questions. Thank you for the wonderful reaction, I was very charmed by your pity for Xie Yu, because I could not and still cannot bring myself to pity that man. When I think about everything we know he did to get to the position he was at before his fall, I cannot bring myself to pity him. Which is why I love Mei Changsu coming into his cell and destroying him even more, to the point where he realises he has truly lost. And I love that he is not killed, but has to live with that. Have a wonderful rest of the week! ❤️❤️❤️

He is the best! I love him so much. I'll be honest, I kinda skip the birthday episodes in my rewatches, because I got through them once and they're just painful, except for the one scene of Yan Yujin and Marquis Yan. Those two have a very special place in my heart and I love how Yan Yujin thinks his dad doesn't care and Marquis Yan turns up in the next moment: "Well, I've recently realized I've been a bad father to my son and am going to change that from now on." 2023-06-01 09:56:56 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine It has begun: Xiao Jingrui's very bad, horrible, never to be repeated birthday. Poor Jingrui is still processing, while his mean not father is trying to kill his other not father, mother and brother. 😬 I love how angry you are at the people from southern Chu 🤣 the prince is very rude, the girl I always perceived as tunnel visioned and naive. Also, let's just say, there's a reason all of this is going down on this day. What you probably missed: Commander Meng and Xia Dong kinda invited themselves to this party by asking Xiao Jingrui to invite them. They are still trying to solve the murder of the eunuch on new years eve, who was killed by Zhuo Dingfeng. Zhuo Dingfeng is always with the Marquis when he's in the capital, so not easily met. So they invited themselves to have the opportunity to fight with him or see him fight to gain some evidence. They could read some techniques from the wounds of the killed people and are comparing those with Zhuo's techniques. He knows this though and doesn't fight at full strength and then let's himself get hurt/crippled to not be found out by the two combat experts. Also: I just love the little prompting look Mei Changsu throws Miss Gong Yu, which she then naturally takes to enter with the next big reveal. All according to plan 🤭 Another wonderful reaction ❤️❤️❤️

2023-06-01 09:55:14 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Oh yeah, the next episodes are definitly going to be stressfull. Mei Changsu has planned this birthday party since he came into the city, even long before that. Also, yes: the female assassin "trying" to kill Xie Yu and then conveniently fleeing, hurt, to Prince Yu's advisor was the young lady who has the biggest crush on Mei Changsu and was just now on her way to Xiao Jingrui's birthday party with Yan Yujin. She is officially a musician and was invited to play for them a few episodes ago. Concubine Jing is the cleverest person on this show. And I'm saying nothing more to that, except: I love her so much! ♥ Yeah, Mu Nihuang is leaving us for now. Really, this show! Making us have all the feels for them at ep 19! How dare they! ... :D Also: Prince Jing ♥ T.T He emotes his devastation so well! He is so mournful and so angry about it and you can really feel it, despite him barely saying anything. And Meng Da-ge's pledge towards him also always makes me clutch at my heart! Thank you for another wonderful reaction! ♥♥♥

2023-06-01 09:54:16 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Yes! The secret tunnel is done and being used for late night/early morning rendez-vous ;D and Meng Da-ge could not let himself be excluded from the tunnel that he suggested to begin with :DDD We met Minister Cai Quan once before, I think and you are definitely going to like him ( you did like him in the one scene we saw him in, were he was loudly complaining in front of the emperors hall about the fact that Prince Yu was being rewarded for not interfering in the case, while Prince Jing barely got a compliment for his actual hard work on the case.) The harem thing is very political and I really hate the unequal power of all the people involved. The women have no real choice to say no to entering the harem, because once the emperor fancies you for it (or your family marries you off for power/politics), how are you going to refuse and also, once you are in it, you can't leave the palace or move freely in the world. They're like beautiful singing birds kept in golden cages, who's fate depends on the favour of one man. And they are strong women, as we can see with the empress, consort Yue and consort Jing, all in their own ways. It really frustrates me, but I also understand the historical background and it is fascinating to watch the conflicts in a fictional context. Thank you for another wonderful reaction! ♥ It always lifts my mood and makes me grin when I see the notification on my phone :) ♥ I love re-watching this with you and seeing your first take of everything. ♥

2023-06-01 09:53:13 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine It's starting to all come together now. Remember in the beginning of the series it was mentioned that Xiao Jingrui's mothers (Princess Liyang and Madame Zhuo) gave birth at the same time in a temple and because of an accident they couldn't figure out which baby boy belonged to whom, which was made worse after one of the babies unexpectedly died in the same day. So Xiao Jingrui grew up with both the Xie and Zhuo family as his parents. And now his oldest brother on the Zhuo side and his younger, but oldest sister on the Xie side are even married, pulling the families even closer together. That's why his oldest brother is also his brother in law and therefore calls Marquis Ning father/father in law. You seemed a little confused about that, I hope I didn't make it worse ^^° Also, the fireworks factory has always been the crown princes money cow, not prince Yu's. Prince Yu honestly had no idea about it up until this moment. As far as I remember.... It's interesying that your subtitles say "savage" when most other subtitles I've seen say "beast", which really has very different meanings, I'd be curious what is closer to the actual word used. Another wonderful reaction! ❤ Wish you all the best for the holidays!

2023-06-01 09:52:37 +0000 UTCPast Comments Lisa Kleine Well... Xie Yu told the Zhuo men to destroy all the evidence Minister Shen has collected against the crown prince (about the illegal fireworks factory), if necessary also kill Minister Shen. That's the same Minister Shen our Prince Jing was talking to in this episode. So, yeah... You are right to be worried about him 😬 Also, I just love when leader of the greatest jianghu sect Mei Changsu comes out to play. "You started it with using people from the jianghu, I'll finish it that way." He and his sect aren't on the top spot of the Langya list for nothing 🤩❤️ Don't worry about forgetting to post on time, sometimes technology just doesn't work and you seem to have a lot on your plate right now. It's fine, take your time ❤️ thank you for your lovely insights the last two episodes ❤️

He's living the life of a rich young man, but he also never truly forgets the strings that make society work. If I had to say who's the more naive between the two, it's definitely Xiao Jingrui 🤔😂 Wonderful reaction! ❤️ Moving on to the next one immediately 🤩

2023-06-01 09:51:21 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Aww, that's a shame about the footage :( but listening to your theories was also wonderful this episode ♥ Sooooo, to get some clarity on the relations of the people (as we found out so far in this episode): The current Emperor, Marquis Yan and Lin Xie were best friends in their youth and none of them are blood related. Noble Consort Chen (who commited suicide 12 years ago) is the mother of Prince Qi, Xiao Jingyu (who was forced to take poison 12 years ago, as he was accused of treason against his father) and she is the sister of Lin Xie. So Prince Qi is Su Zhe's (Lin Shu's) cousin. Prince Jing and Prince Qi are half brother's. Consort Jing (Prince Jing's mom in white robes) prayed to Consort Chen's spirit last (?) episode to protect Prince Jing in his endeavor to win the throne, so we can assume they were quite close. Mu Nihuang has no blood relations to Prince Jing or Su Zhe. She is the Duchess of Yunnan and has earned the title of Princess through her prowess in battle. She is not blood related to the Emperor. Now, I don't remember if it is ever explicitly stated in the show, so the next bit is a little bit SPOILERY, concerning the blood relation between Prince Jing and Su Zhe: (*(*(*Lin Xie was married to a sister of the current Emperor, so Su Zhe (Lin Shu) and Prince Jing (Xiao Jingyan) are cousins in a way, but not neccessarily all that closely blood related, because I don't know if Lin Shu's mom was a direct sister of the Emperor. (All these consorts and side wives complicate things....)*)*)*) I love how affronted Su Zhe is about Marquis Yan's revenge plan :D He's like: "You had 12 years and this is all you came up with? Amateur. Now, stop ruining *my* 12 year revenge plan and take care of your son instead!" Also, also: yeah, our BL hearts are beating faster everytime Prince Jing and Su Zhe are in a room together ;D Princess Nihuang can join in, really. ♥ OT3's exist for a reason :DDD Despite the missing footage, a wonderful reaction. Thank you ♥♥♥

This is not going to end in tears, oh who am I kidding, it already ended in tears 😭 it was such a sweet, heartbreaking scene! Prince Jing has gained his first Minister, who came to him with a case and I love that. Su Zhe made a good list of 'friends' for him. I'm not saying anything about the poisoning of the empress and consort Jing (who is Prince Jing's mom, we found that out last episode ;D). I had a lot of fun today with this reaction 🤣 thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️

2023-06-01 09:48:34 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Episode 11 here we gooo!!!! Aww, I hope you’re feeling better ♥ I’m sending you all the hugs! ♥ Oooooh, yeah. Banruo, the devastatingly pretty advisor of Prince Yu is definitely ambitious. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that for now 😉. And we’re getting a few scenes with Prince Yu’s wife ♥ who’s very understanding of there being a devastatingly pretty woman in a room alone with her husband. Yeees, the micro-expressions on some of these actors! So good, so frustrating! :DDD Also yes, the whole class trash talk is just always so *grrrrrrr*, because it is sooooo frustrating and sadly so real. :( But these scenes live to show us the character of these people. Oh yes, Prince Yu is a complicated character to love, but also to hate. He is righteous when it benefits him and an absolute bastard at other times. Also! The return of our favourite women! Princess Nihuang and Consort Jing! Who have eautiful scenes with our favourite men! Mei Changsu and Prince Jing! I absolutely understand why we paused at the flowering tree :D Can’t say anything else about all your questions this episode 😉 Thank you for another wonderful reaction! ♥

2023-06-01 09:47:09 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine Aaaah! I’m back! And watching two episodes in a row ♥♥♥ Sooo happy to continue watching NiF with you! And we’re off on a good start! :D The thing with the soldier of Prince Jing was not that he “accidentally” targeted Mei Changsu, but that he shot a deadly weapon in the direction of the Prince. That is *really* disrespectful, especially as that Prince is now planning on becoming the Emperor. So Prince Jing had to be harsh because of that, he actually was quite tame in his punishment for what could be conceived as a murder attempt on a Prince. 😬 Mr. Thirteen or Shisan, yeah the subtitles are always changing for his name, because sometimes they translate the name and sometimes they don’t. He is the man in charge of the music hall were Miss Gongyu works and Mei Changsu’s information/gossip man in the city. I love Minister Chao(Cao), he is not afraid to speak his mind. :D They have barely left the emperors hall and he is already loudly complaining about Prince Yu getting benefits instead of Prince Jing. He and Prince Jing are such a good fit for working together, it’s hilarious when Prince has to hold him back from opening his mouth :DDD Grand Prince Ji was sad that the brothel were the twin girls worked at is still closed because of the murder investigation not being concluded yet. As the place is still closed he can’t see the girls dance, and as the girls are involved in the plan to get those two hotheads to fight to the death, I don’t think they are mourning ;D Mmmh, should I make a list of characters for you? Maybe something like this does already exist… I’d have to look it up. But first I’m moving over to the episode 11 reaction!!! ♥♥♥

2023-06-01 09:46:40 +0000 UTCPast Comment Lisa Kleine Yes!!! Prince Jing is back! ♥ And so are you and your lovely reactions :D You had a question in the beginning about, if you had skipped an episode: no you haven't. Magistrate Gao had a talk with Banruo (Prince Yu's devastatingly pretty advisor), who essentially gave him the idea, that as he has evidence that this case (the women in the well case) involves a higher ranking official than himself, he can just push this whole thing to the Ministry of Justice. This he did between episodes, and thus in this episode he was just relieved to have dodged that bullet and asking the gods not to send him any more cases involving Ministers. A lot of storytelling in this series is like this, someone suggest a thing in one episode and in the next, we get confronted with a conversation about how this situation was handled, sometimes really just as a side sentence. It doesn't make it easier with following the intrigues going on.... Su Zhe/Mei Changsu being absolutely relaxed in his new home, while assassins are being murdered outside is absolutely a statement of trust in his people, which is not only Fei Liu, but also the martial artists of his sect that are now openly living with him. I absolutely agree with the characters driving the love of a story. The story can be really well written, if the characters don't have chemistry, if you can't fall in love with any of them, you just don't continue watching. For this story Su Zhe/Mei Changsu/??? and Prince Jing, but also Commander Meng, Fei Liu and Princess Nihuang are absolutely these characters for me. (And one more for me, but she will get more screentime later, so I wont say yet ;D).

2023-06-01 09:46:00 +0000 UTCPast Comment Lisa Kleine Yeah... Poor Jingrui, his worldview just twisted upside down. He's such a sweet man and does not deserve the heartbreak, but I also always thought that he deserves the truth. He'll hopefully comes out stronger for it. Something was missing in this episode you say.... I know what it was 😉 or rather who 😂 No worries, Prince Jing should return to our viewing pleasure soon. But also! Commander Meng was so cute this episode! He found our Su Zhe a nice manor, that's secretly just besides Prince Jing's manor for secret, nightly rendezvous 🤣 Commander Meng knows what's going on. That person who turned up at the end of the fight to defend Su Zhe was Li Gang, one of the other bodyguards Su Zhe has around, but who were hidden for now. We met him once in episode 1, as a member of his sect, so yeah, we all forgot he existed until now 😅 Thank you for your lovely reaction! ❤️

2023-06-01 09:45:31 +0000 UTCLisa Kleine I just love the fact that Su Zhe really did NOT want to go towards Lin Manor and even forced to go through politness by Princess Nihuang, he does not even once glance at it. My heart! Such great storytelling and acting. (We had a little of Su Zhe's backstory in the conversation between Commander Meng and Su Zhe before the Grand Princess came to him at night about the wine. And his relationship in the talk between Xia Dong and Princess Nihuang in episode 2. Also a tiny bit in "the storm is coming" scene between him and Prince Jing. But it will also be explained more in later episodes ♥) Also Fei Liu, my precious boy! ♥ Choosing the Manor that's the most run down because it's fun to play around in :D I think Su Zhe can return it now due to a number of unexpected bodies in the well... The young man in the beginning, the one who followed Xia Dong into the city and you were not sure who he was: he is the older Brother to Xiao Jingrui and the son in law to the Marquise of Ning. (Remember, Xiao Jingrui is the son of two families, one the Xie family of the Marquise on Ning, the other a martial sect leading family :) We even saw his two fathers talking about killing Mei Changsu in that last scene.) The relationship between Xiao Jingrui and Yan Yujin is just precious, I agree. I remember watching 5 to 7 episodes a day of this series when I watched it and I think that really helped in keeping up with what is going on. I imagine it is so much harder when only seeing one episode a week! Especially when watching other shows in between. The difficulties of being a reactor ♥ ;) Look at me... I wanted to keep this comment short but I'm rambling again.... ^.^° I love that you enjoy this series ♥ ♥ ♥ Pandora About that cliff scene. It was NIF first., then all others. This show really set the gold standard for imagery, set design, and cinematography. It had such an impact when it was first released. Picked up, copied, and referenced in many a show ever since, from the Untamed to Rise of Phoenixes. The framing and scene composition is just mindblowingly beautiful.

2023-06-01 09:44:00 +0000 UTCAstrid1313 The convos between Prince Jing and Su She are some of the most fulfilling and at the same time frustrating scenes for me, especially early on. Like here when the Prince named the two people closest to him who were lost to strateggic schemes. In a lot of ways those two characters are the emotional centerpiece of the whole show. Lisa Kleine Every interaction between Prince Jing and Su Zhe is the best, especially as you get to know them and their backgrounds more, they just get better and better. The person who you thought was the emperor for a moment, is actually Xie Yu, the Marquise of Ning and the brother in law of the emperor. It is sadly never mentioned in the show, but Yan Yujin was trained by Xia Dong as a child, it was the most terrifying experience for him, that's why he is so afraid of her and why he hides behind Xiao Jingrui when she first appears before them. Both of the boys, especially Xiao Jingrui, are trained martial artists and belong in the top twenty of their generation, so they are quite good :) If you want to know what the political thing is, that is happening right now, here is a little explanation: In the first episode we saw Su Zhe on a boat, rescuing an old couple that was escorted by martial artists, from a whole ship of assasins. This old couple thus made it to the capitol to bring the accusation to court that the Duke of Qing (?) is commiting raids and murders in his province for profits. This Duke Qing is one of the supporters of Prince Yu. If this case goes through and Duke Qing loses his position or life, Prince Yu also loses an important military supporter. Prince Yu wants to find out, who helped the old couple reach the capitol to make their case. We know it was the Son-in-law of Marquise Ning, who belongs to a martial arts sect. Marquise Ning supports the Crown Prince and thus helped the old couple, because he wants Prince Yu to lose support. I think that is all we know so far... :) everything else will be explained in the next episodes. It is so much fun to watch this with you ♥

2023-06-01 09:42:07 +0000 UTCPast Comments Lisa Kleine Ahhh, I'm so happy you are reacting to this series!!!! ♥ It is so confusing in the beginning with all the names and different characters, that's so true. Especially with all the titles and politics. If you want to know, I'll write something further down. I love this series so much, I've only watched it at the beginning of the year, so it's still pretty fresh in my mind :D So, I don't think this is ever truly explained in the series: Princess Mu Nihuang and her brother Prince Mu Qing are in no way related to the Emperor. Their actual title/position is Duchess/Duke of Yunnan, but as their father has sacrificed himself in battle and Mu Nihuang has defended the southern border in her fathers and too young brothers stead for 10 years, they have been granted the honor title of princess and prince by the Emperor. They sometimes call her Duchess in converstaion but it seems the subtitles translate that as Princess in your subtitles as well. Now that Mu Qing is old enough to inherit the title and position of his father, his sister is supposed to step down and get married. The Emperor instists on that so vehemently with this tournament, because he is afraid she would retain too much power in the south otherwise and become a threat to his position. I'm looking forward to your reaction to the next episodes concerning her marriage :D The Prince you actually like is called Xiao Jingyan, or Prince Jing. You'll find out more about him, so I'm not gonna say anything. XIAOFEI LIU (No spoiler) He's appearance changed for some reason, you will know gradually. XIAOFEI LIU The Princess's husband will be full of power, if he is on any prince's side, of course this price will get more power in military. The Princess is not interest in the battle because she does not want to get married at all. Clearly she has someone in her heart. XIAOFEI LIU The idea was to possibly wound him. Because Baili Qi was from another country, they cannot let the Princess married to another country. If so, they will lose military power. Just remember, the Princess is also a General, the reason why the Emperor wants to get her married was that she is so powerful that if she wants to, she can already become a Queen at her area. As said in the previous episodes, the Emperor wants her to get married so that she would need to stay in the capital (with her husband). Her little brother is already old enough to take the responsibility. The Emperor is thinking of letting the little brother(Mu Qing) go back to protect the border and leaving the sister (Mu Nihuang) in the capital, so that he can control the power of the Mu family. XIAOFEI LIU Thank you so much! Hope you like this drama! Astrid1313 The show is very overwhelming in the beginning with all the characters and how they relate to one another. And obviously there is a big conspiracy that lies in the past that swept up Lin Shu`s family, the former Crown Prince and the 70000 soldiers of that Chiyuan army that you only get bits and pieces of at the moment. Astrid1313 The main characters to focus on are definitely Mei Changsu, Prince Jing and Princess Nihuang. The rest will come in time, haha.

2023-06-01 09:40:10 +0000 UTCPast Comments Astrid1313 Without spoiling anything: Lin Shu, nicknamed "Xiao Shu" by everyone, was the young man who fell from the cliff at the beginning of episode 1. The role Zhang Zhe Han plays in the flashbacks. He was Princess Nihuang`s fiance and the grandson of the old empress. His name is not to be mentioned at Court usually but obviously noone dares to tell the old Empress so and everyone just thought she is senile when she spoke to Mei Changsu like this.
