Hornets dream 25 complete

Hornet 25 is complete! give it a look and let me know what you think!

Finishing page 25 actually ended up being a lot harder than I expected. I just wasn't happy with how it was turning out for a bit. There is still a little here that I don't think is my best, but I also want to hold back my perfectionism for the sake of delivering a story.

I added a fair few things to the background that I wasn't going to before. With the last page I choose to keep the background simple because of all the text and to not take too long, but doing the same thing for this one left it feeling lifeless. So I added back the heads, added smoke and the soul pool (my thought was that the pool had drained out because of hornet crashing into it, but in the end I think it was better to keep it as is) and that made a difference.

A very interesting question, I suppose I would call myself self taught, however after 3 years and going into my forth of illustration, I would say now that its more 60% self and 40% classes. As a kid, my interest was in legos/bionicles, stopmotion animation, and storytelling. I liked cartoons just as much as anyone else, but at the time I did not know how to draw. I think the first step was sometime in my 5th grade when I was drawing with my sister, and it was in that time that I realized how to draw shoulders (before this point I would just have the arms sticking out of the sides of a square body). Later on in middle school I got to draw, and realized that I was getting good at it. Of course what I was drawing back then looked nothing like it does now, but I could see potential and I wanted to keep going. There are a thousand events from then to now that made me who I am, and I couldn't possibly go over all of them. But its interesting to think back on it. Someday I might have to detail this for anyone interested.

Still loving this series. Love the full shot of her massive goodness on display.

This is a pretty tangential and general question, but if its alright to ask, what's your artistic background? How'd you get started with art, and how do you feel about your artwork?
