Life Changing Blues Lead Guitar Trick - How to Use the Major 3rd!

Hello friends,

Welcome back to Swift Guitar Lessons for another blues-rock lead tutorial. Every once in a while a musician stumbles upon a simple trick that significantly enhances their playing. For me, discovering how to use the major third interval in conjunction with my go-to pentatonic licks was one such event. So, in today's session I'll break down how to locate the major 3rd across three octaves, and provide guidance on how to get that iconic major blues sound. Let's get started!

This is great stuff. I've been looking for a practical blues source for a long time. These lessons cut right to chase.

Amazing lesson thanks - but how to you find the major 3rd in other keys (ie Am) where there are no flat notes?? I hope that's not a dumb question! (Update - I think I've found it. It's just the second note in pattern 1, raised by a semitone, I hope)!

To follow your teachings, I'm losing my French. Keep up the good work

Sorry, over scanned your notice that you are working on a PDF.

Hi Rob, was PDF available for this? Thank you sir.

That’s a great lick, looking forward to the pdf. Cheers

Rob, you're just really, really, really good at this. That is all. Carry on.
