You don’t survive the attempt. Instead of the afterlife, you find yourself in Limbo, where the slain spirits of heroes go to be revived again and again as they rid the world of all things monstrous. It’s there that your Guardian informs you that your grandmother’s beloved walking stick was actually your grandmother’s demon slaying staff, and you inherited her duties after it awakened at your touch.
