I know it's a long time ago but I hope you had a wonderful time during rehearsals and the show! I do amateur musicals as well. I am always very nervous for the auditions, and some of the first rehearsals. And I almost die for every performance. My biggest fear is forgetting my lines as well! I really loved this btw! Loved the chuckles you had, tucked away under your duvet. Such a lovely image! If you ever want to talk theatre, let me know! P.S: I can't believe they gave the LOTR solo to a singer! It's better on the violin! (And I am a singer lol)

It's nice to get to know the creative guy behind all these entertaining stories. Your story with the violin ring a bell so much ! I'm french and we had quite the same experience. Now, if I too try to play the violin, I get so much frustration of the noisy sounds born of me not training for years with my "Solar cathedral" !! (yeap, my violin even had a name... xD) So, I gave up. My violin is sleeping in its dusty velvet case and I began the instrument I've always been wanting to learn : the harp. Quite a pain to train when you're a grown up with a stressful life, but it's so good to finally been able to play this lovely, poetic and appeasing instrument. ♡ I want to thank you for your services. Because, yes, I pay for it, but you have no idea how appeasing it is for me, right now, at that time of my life. Your work makes me forget my loneliness, my anxiety, ease my nerves, makes me laugh, blush even... and it's priceless. So, yes, you worth it. You are doing good around you. And this, Phasmid, is even greater. From the deep of my heart, thank you. ♡ PS : I got curious. Where does your nickname comes from ? I though about the stick insect cause it's called "phasme" in french. But i think I'm 100% wrong. XD

I was never brave enough to audition for cast, but I was on various production crews all through high school. Costumes and props mostly. I have some of the fondest memories from working with all of those passionate and creative people.

Which is fucking shameful. So maybe I'll change that. You have a lovely laugh. Would love more rambles from you. As an introvert, I find rambles relaxing. ✌️

2023-04-26 01:23:09 +0000 UTCIt's been about 15 years since I've done any acting (unless we count TTRPG & cringy tiktoks) but I did do local amdram & went to college for theatre for a bit. I adore acting & I miss it so much but ultimately I realised I'm just not built for the competitive nature of it. I love performing, especially when there's the live feedback of an audience enjoying it, but it just got harder & harder to put myself forward for anything because I was so sure someone else would do it better & I'd be wasting everyone's time. Ah, Trauma™️ 😅 Obviously it's been a while now since you posted this because I'm new & working my way through. I hope you found a solution for making your lines stick. For me, I have terrible visual memory, but my audio memory is great so I'd record my lines with the preceeding cue & listen to them back a couple of times, then it was just repetition. But some of my friends were more kinetic learners so they linked the words to whatever actions they were performing, like it was choreography & the words came with it. Also I just realised I'm like 7/8 years older than you & I hope that's not creepy. Everyone has their different boundaries for age & I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable. Honestly, just because there's a financial aspect doesn't mean you should ignore your boundaries or have anyone violate them. If ever I come close to that, please do tell me to knock it off & I absolutely will with no negative repercussions or hard feelings. Sorry for the wall of text, I'm an anxious mess & a chronic overexplainer even when I'm not hyperverbal... or the text equivalent 😅

2023-04-11 13:32:11 +0000 UTCThis was great and pretty funny too. You should absolutely do more of them. I'm curious about what musical you're going to be in. In hs and college I did a lot of theatre- mainly musicals. The driving analogy does make sense, but it's interesting thinking about having a license that Only works for an automatic. I find it easier to learn words through obscene amounts of repetition than anything else. If you can, record yourself performing the parts, then play that on repeat acting along with your lines till you're off book in the same way you'd play a song and sing along. You realize now we're all going to want you to sing, right? :)
