February 23 Update

There is too much going on. Sierra tired. Putting new things at the top, things you know later.

Comfort and Warmth: Desertopa is a long-time member here and he has put out a cozy little game on Steam! If you check the reviews you'll see some other TLS fans as well, so please give it a look. ^-^

Audiobook Deal: I don't know how much I can talk about yet, but behind the scenes I have been negotiating a substantial deal between several audiobook publishers over rights to the Depthless Hunger series, with the final bid won by Audible itself. You will hear more about this later. Definitely good, but also tiring.

Newgrounds Animation: Do you guys still use Newgrounds? Well, please check out the full W1 animation (fully animated by Annikath, voiced by OolayTiger) to help promote DStP. Speaking of which...

Don't Save the Princess: Thanks to everyone who has followed the pre-launch page or offered criticism of the full campaign story. You will hear more about this... sometime.

Skyvenom: Sold a lot at first, but it's always hard to say whether it will build momentum and reach a second peak. =/ It's premature to draw conclusions based on a couple days of trajectory, but I'm sad anyway.

TLS 0.78.2b: No new achievement bugs reported since my hotfix. It has been fun checking the global achievement stats, watching the 0.1% creep downward as people play. That may not seem like much, but with a game like TLS that's hundreds of players!

Other Stuff: If we are in communication about things, I have probably not been as prompt as usual, so please be patient with me.

It's funny, this is one of the busiest weeks of my life in terms of the number of balls in the air, but not even close to the top in terms of time spent working. There are times where I could only say "I spent all week working on TLS" or "Still writing a novel" that I put in far more hours than this week. Yet with so many metaphorical balls in the air, I can't overcommit because I never know when another one will come down. (In this metaphor, I suppose I'm juggling with multiple people, each throwing spheres, pins, or bowling balls at me with unpredictable timing.)

What will next week look like? It's difficult to be sure. I will refresh the Skyvenom stats a lot, which will impact my mood even though I can't do anything about them now. I might sign a final audio contract, or maybe not yet. We may start the DStP Kickstarter, but only if everything is actually ready. We'll see.

Comments

Glad to hear you liked it! I sprang for a well-known voice actor hoping that it would inspire people to invest in the project. As for Newgrounds, it's mainly one of the few places I have to effectively advertise NSFW... but if it works, I'll take it. =P

Sierra Lee

Wow, I was not expecting the quality of the voiceacting in the animation. Animation itself was good too. Also it feels very newgrounds to advertise a game with, "Here's a sex animation you filthy animals, buy the game!"

Nicholas

I appreciate all suggestions, but at this stage (and this level of busyness) I'm afraid I'm not likely to make additions quickly.

Sierra Lee

It's great to hear that the Steam update is doing so well. I hope that the new players not only love TLS - but also learn about your other projects.

Archmage of the God-Queen

Yup, its project management 101 - when it gets busy with multiple inputs, never commit to anything that will take you over 80% (maaaaaaaaaybe 85-88%, but only if you dealing with highly predictable inputs, otherwise 80% is your drop dead cut off) of your capacity. Something will explode, cause the domino effect and the proverbial it will hit the proverbial fan in a big way. Keep going, you are doing the right thing. It'll ease up eventually, it always does :)

Dark Art

Audiobooks! Yes! I'm sorry for the added stress, but that makes my week hearing that!

Runcible Technician

I don't know if it improves your mood at all re: sales figures, but for what it's worth, I think Skyvenom might actually be my favorite of the Soulhome series so far. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the rest of the series pans out, even more so than I was as of the last book. Thanks for the shout out to Comfort and Warmth, I'm afraid I really did the game a disservice by not advertising it *at all* until a couple weeks prior to its release. I share your distaste for marketing, and I also hate advertising things without feeling like I can make any hard statements on when they'll be available, and until the last moment, I failed to read up on the fact that this is basically exactly the opposite of how you're recommended to get exposure for a Steam game. So far, it's been well-liked by players, but it's sitting *just* under the requisite reviews to get an aggregate review score. It's a small scope side project, so I'm comfortable chalking this up as a learning experience, but I'd be pretty disappointed if it doesn't at least reach that benchmark.

Desertopa

I think having an achivement for that, would give new players especially if not wanting to use a walkthrough in finding that option. I know from my experience that could be easy to not know that is an option, until it is to late to change it; especially if solve the mine early as can be in it and able to solve it, before doing much.

Edward Culham

There is one that I thing that I do beleive that should have an achivement to, as was playing around in Aka path in Yhillian and looked around to see if there were any hints for the 3rd path for the mine. "Amplifing the rift" which is considered the best option for many, but did not find them.
