January 26 Update

Another crazy week, so let's separate out the work again!

Steam Achievements: They're all in the game and tested! You can view them here! The fact that they function doesn't mean that all the triggers are properly set up, however, and there's always the possibility that I missed a way to fulfill a condition. I hope that enough people will play between now and 1.0.0 that any errors are straightened out.

Further Achievements: I could be persuaded to add more if there was some kind of omission or a really compelling idea, but the default plan is to stick with these.

Steam Trading Cards: All assets, from emoticons to cards to badges, have been submitted to Valve! They are usually a pain about this, so it's hard to say how long the approval process will take.

Combat Animations: I haven't been talking about this, but I've been quietly working on another visual aspect of the game for over a month. I will probably do a post about this after I get it done.

Don't Save the Princess: Work continues in the background, actually making progress! This week $10 backers got a preview of all the fancy new animations that Annikath has added to the game. Right now only the first sex scene is fully animated, but the plan is to do them all depending on the Kickstarter.

That is all for now. The release of the next TLS build is primarily in Valve's hands now, as I want to do all the Steam stuff at once.

I think it's just a matter of each boost being so insignificant, I find myself never bothering to use the skill. Heals less than 1,000 health, does 0.25 of an attack, and slightly increases your chance to crit, but hardly guarantees it. The 50 mana cost has it be too costly to use against every mob of enemies, and the low benefit has it seem too lackluster against boss battles. Honestly, I think it would be cooler if it worked more like Aka's trump card. Lethal intent causes a near guaranteed critical hit, but has a crazy high cost like 250+ mana and a 3 turn warm up. That way it can't be abused in back to back battles, but it can give players some clutch moments of finishing off a tough boss with a powerful final blow.

You're correct about the damage, but I figured it would be reasonable for later in the game when the player has a very deep mana pool. An instant boost to damage, crit, and healing needs to have some cost. How often is your Aka actually exhausting all her mana in a given segment? Unless she's running out, it's more damage now for no real cost.

Hello, hope you are doing well! Just want to give some balancing feedback as I do another playthrough. From my playing, Aka's "Lethal Intent" skill does really feel like it has a good mana to benefit ratio. The damage lethal intent adds is rather lackluster, and not at all worth the steep 50 mana cost. You are really trading 5 forceful lunges in the future for 0.25 of a forceful lunge now. If my checking of the stats is right, it lets you do 125% attack instead of base 100%. (And a small 10% boost to crit).

The achievement names are very funny, indeed. Unfortunately, I didn't get all the references, but some gave me a good chuckle. :)

I definitely didn't completely forget about her in my first playthrough... I totally did and I felt her absence dearly.

=P

Altina coming into her own was intended, but I didn't intend her to be considered useless, which is why I've made several recent changes to her balance.

Sierra Lee

On paper, this sounds like: - Export achievements from Steam into a text file (supposedly steps 1-7 of https://docs.gog.com/sdk-steam-import/) - Drop that text file as well as achievement images in some folder in the project directory - Import the content of that file into RPGMaker (VX Ace runs using Ruby 1.9.2, which includes a JSON parser as a default; so, _in theory_, not a big deal) - Search for an existing script seemingly doing (most of) the job (https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/external-achievements-full-script.41882/page-2#post-974879 maybe?) - Feed the Steam file information into the new script - Add a magical snippet so that, when the code sends the achievement to Steam, it also automagically triggers the new script - It works! Enjoy! - It works, yes. But very badly, as the script turns to be more of a proof of concept than anything production ready. Cry. - Methodically fix every issue tl;dr Not undoable but will require a bit more than the blink of an eye

Okay, got it, I'll have to try them when they're ready.

Innocuous

I love how judgy the achievements for siding with Lynine or Orilise in the forests are.

Nicholas

I did want to ask actually, was Altina's relative lack of meta usefulness in any way intentional? It worked out in a rather synchronized way with her insecurity over her own usefulness, and her sharply increasing power through later skills and synchronizations does add to the idea of her coming into her own.

Nicholas

Except for the test achievements added earlier, these cannot yet be acquired in-game! I need to upload a new build before that can happen.

Sierra Lee

Achievements look awesome, congrats to everyone who contributed. I haven't played TLS on Steam before, I'll have to give it a go once I have a bit more free time. I did try the prologue real quick, I got the basic ones but I couldn't get the 'Nice Try' one with choosing the corruption options in the prologue. Not sure how to trigger it. Also there's one called Metaknowledge Sword that says 'Alright, this one is unfair, but this is 'extra' outside the main total.' What could that possibly mean? Not sure I actually want an answer yet, might be fun to try and discover.

Innocuous

Steam Trading Cards? Awesome! There's been a gap in the market since the sex cards of Witcher 2 :).

Nicholas

I love that you made recruiting Altina a non spoiler achievement, as if to say "Stop missing her, dummies! She has enough self esteem issues as it is."

Nicholas

1) See below comment for info on requirements. 2) You will need to do a small amount of reloading to get all achievements in one run, but not too much. 3) I don't plan to add any postgame achievements.

Sierra Lee

Glad you liked it! I tried to make the achievements a part of the game experience so that when they appear enhances things. ^-^ All achievements have descriptions, but the secret achievements have them hidden. I gave Grim8P the back end info and he created a spreadsheet, but I'll let him decide if he shares that.

Sierra Lee

I have nothing against it, but I also don't have the technical knowledge to be able to implement it.

Sierra Lee

I’m curious about the exact requirements for every achievement too. Also, you said all should be possible in an optimal playthrough but I think at least choosing Lynine & Orilise are mutually exclusive, right? Will we get more with the postgame stuff?

AchtungNight

"Now I am become pink, hugger of worlds" has to be one of the funniest achievement names and images I have ever seen lmao. Top shelf concept, top shelf execution! Is there any list or full description available to see what triggers what achievements, for players who know the full story? Some are self-explainatory, but others have me guessing.

DankPotatoes

Hello, is it possible to have the achievment for the non steam version in some forms ? Like in a the starting screen, an achievment option ? I don't like to play a game on steam while I can do otherwise, but I would like to see those achievments. If it's not too much work (I suspect that the achievments need to be stored in some files anyway, therefore, accessing this file from the game may be an option).
