April 22 Update

Maybe all the secondary work is past! Full focus forward! Hopefully. I think I may have finally gotten all the rebranding things done, but let me know if you see old artwork anywhere except the following:

- The trailers on Steam. (will change eventually)

- Random forum posts. (don't care)

- Steam assets for the Yarra's Thanks DLC. (maybe)

Speaking of rebranding, I decided to make a post showing off all the new title cards. Not everyone has access to the game files and replaying is obviously a major time investment. You can see we now have a metallic font, with the texture changing to match each chapter's theme. I hope this will serve the game well... we're getting closer to the time when that "The End" card will finally be displayed.

I'm posting early in the hope I can jump start the next week and dive straight into the next update. I have a lot of partially finished quest content that I hope can become a solid update sooner than average.

looking forward to probably crying when that "The End" title card rolls

I instinctively started writing a typo report for palette cleanser -> palate cleanser, then deleted it because wtf Lamsey, this is a comment thread, but now part of me thinks it's actually an apropos term for an artist, so instead I now salute your subtle and definitely intentional pun.

Lamsey

Sounds cool looking forward to whatever you put out.

Okcorral

"Smaller" is a relative term, but yes! Before beginning anything as big as TLS, I'd like to spend a while focusing on projects that can be completed in a shorter time frame, as a palette cleanser and to expand the variety of my work.

Sierra Lee

So more smaller projects like Ouroboros and Don't Save the Princess? Still find myself going back and playing those two whenever I feel nostalgic. Looking forward to whatever you put out next.

Okcorral

Yay, can't wait to play the completed TLS!

There will absolutely be more! I have far too many things I want to create and the list includes lots of games. Right now I'm not working on those, and I don't usually talk about them too much to avoid taking attention away from TLS. But there are a lot of things I hope to do. I've long been thinking about a massive science fiction epic that might be a successor to TLS as a multi-year project. Before I launch into that, I'd want to do some different potential games as a break. If I can make the finances work out, I'd like to do a sequel to Once Ever After, among other things. I could keep making RPG Maker games forever, but I'd like to keep increasing production values if possible. If I had the capacity for it, I'd like to do a platformer, for example, and I'd like to make more elaborate RPGs. I can't say for sure what order all of this will come in, but you'll hear more about these decisions when TLS gets close to completion!

Sierra Lee

So, will there be other games after TLS, or will you be focusing more on your books? I'm fine either way, just can't imagine that will all the systems and work that you put into getting so much experience from the rpgmaker system that you would let those skills decay.

Okcorral

For what it's worth, TLS is easily one of my favorite games of all time, putting aside qualifiers like "18+" or "indie" entirely, but I'm grateful that it's also intended to end in its own time, rather than dragging out as long as an audience exists. If I enjoy a creator's work, I'd always rather they let their stories come to a natural end and move on to other things, rather than milking a work as long as there are still audience members who don't want to let go.

You know Yarra's escape from the Incubus King's territory would be great for a stealth game, ending with her meeting Simon. Balia could be like a Pokemon game, but with a mix and match, create you own team of orcs component. Qum could star in a platformer that's like the Super Princess Peach game. Simon's captured and she has to rescue him, with the others as bosses for her to beat. It ends with the reveal that they were all indulging her roleplay.

Taium

This would definitely make the subtle details clear, which some players are likely to miss right now. Unsure, but will think about it.

Sierra Lee

Haha, there will be related content like comics and post-game stories, and I haven't ruled out a side game in the setting, but I've always promised that TLS will be a definitive and cohesive experience.

Sierra Lee

Well, there will still be polishing, revisions, and more art, but I look forward to fulfilling the promises I've made in this story.

Sierra Lee

hey, just a though, i dont know if this will be a good idea: whenever you change chapters do a transition between each( for example you show go to chapter 2, you show chapter 1 soldier, then transition to chapter 2), that way the player will see the change in font unconsciously

TLS will never really end. Not when there's a potential spinoff for every harem member just waiting to be made.

Taium

I don’t know if I’m ready for TLS to end yet. It’s such an amazing experience and has had a lasting impact on me. Guess all good things have to end someday or later.
