February 13 Update

Lots of stuff going on this week. Plenty of standard work, but I'll focus on things for patrons:

That is all for this week. Considering regression to the mean, I have some hope the next one will be less scattered.

February 13 Update

Comments

Dear Miss Sierra Lee, How are you doing this week? I hope everything is alright. My week was not so well, a lot of people that were struck by cars, 2 kids of 14 unfortunately died because of their injuries.Sad but that's how life is. How is your working going? Are we gonna have a TLS update soon, or are you focused more on OEA? Dont stress yourself too much, have a nice day!! Cheers!!

Regarding the quest log, I believe there are some intermediate goals that are never turned green. If you can completely miss an objective, it will turn red in that case. I think there are more of these than I want to go around changing, but if this is important to you, keep a list as you play. Glad you're enjoying the beginning!

Sierra Lee

Regarding OEA, I started it, the begining is great. A small bug I found : in the quest survive, the "find a way back to bangville" is not put to green after completion (also the Explore the cave" is not either, but maybe it's because i missed someting) Is it possible not to fail the corruption quest ? I was around 30 corruption, and did not found more way to increase it.

Mycroft

If nobody got me, I know Annikath got me. Can I get an amen?

I'm going to take these comments as speculation, as they're mostly requesting spoilers. One answer: you'll be able to explore more of Renthnor, but no new areas in this update.

Sierra Lee

Hey, thanks for the in-depth feedback!

Sierra Lee

Yeah, that's what I'm going for. Plenty of artists responding claim they can match the previous covers, so fingers crossed that one of them can.

Sierra Lee

But does that mean to say every single artist has mental problems? I won't deny I've come across many indie game makers who did have the same problems. But if it that is the case, its so ridiculously cliché.

Well, there does seem to be a very high level of comorbidity between Bipolar Disorder and creatives in general, and the visual arts are notorious for being an economic winner take all/tournament like modeling, music and writing. There are vastly more people trying to compete in the field then there are paying customers and the share of revenue received by the most successful is far out of scale compared to the relative quality of their product. There are probably hundreds or thousands of young women aspiring to be singer songwriters in the USA at any given time, but there can only be one Taylor Swift. So you have a profession of people who are, generally speaking, emotionally unstable to begin with who are also chronically unable to make a living in their chosen vocation. This means that the responsible ones are out doing their day jobs and the irresponsible ones can't keep the lights on. The more common sense and self-interest a person possesses, the more likely they are to give up on pursuing their art professionally. That further accentuates the tendency for the ones still in the market to be flakes. Since they are not getting or can not get effective treatment for their emotional problems, the options for cheap "self-medication" exacerbate these issues. Note that all of this applies primarily to the English speaking world, and more especially to the US as opposed to Britain or Australia. It might be that the better ordered welfare states give their artists a bit more support. (The one creative Kiwi I know passingly seems to have herself pretty together, so perhaps the more left-leaning New Zealand is an exception.) So perhaps the reason Annikath is an outlier isn't that she's a more inherently reliable visual artist. Perhaps it's because she's German.

Lastly and this is likely to be the biggest spoiler but when we go after the anak and Hester. That we'll get to the point Simon can choose with the tower the three ideas Sarai, Riala, and Janine offered at the end of chapter 1.

For this update will we be able to explore some of the renthnor continent? And what can we expect to be different in other locations? Will Zirantia finally be able to stand on its own if we support the NUP? Will Simon finally be able to control the incubus emperor and lustlords shards? Will we finally get to max out Carina's RP? Having the long overdue confrontation between her and Ivala. Personally I think it should go the same way as Tertia and Neranda. But with the added option of a switch to forgive her or renounce her. After all Ivala has much to answer/apologize for.

JJS

Replaying 59.3 brings to mind that small Ardoheim section trying to find a peaceful resolution to the crystal issue. Where Tyna offers some real help with the issue it leads to the switch choices Keep Tyna out of it Accept Tyna's help Is the latter really going to make a difference in the long run? She's always been friendly with us asking us for help. And her uncle already named her his successor. All I see as a real difference is a few angry accusing words against her but that's it.

Overall, I think the cover looks cool and it will look good with text filling the empty space at the top and bottom. I think the color pallet and scene composition are solid. I especially like the light reflecting off the pyramid, but it seems to imply there should be a sun somewhere on the horizon. The dessert sands also feel a little too uniform; it might be good to break them up with some sparse shrubbery. Finally, the settlements feel a little off, because they seem to be made of permanent structures, so they probably aren't temporary military camps, but there's also no apparent water source, and the location seems a little remote for importing water. Maybe some greenery around the cities could imply a source of water. Like I said though, I think the overall composition is good, and the white glowing pit around a smooth black pyramid plays well into the light/dark duality of the story while also evoking some of the eldritch horror themes the series has.

I just thought it was a-cute pyramid. Perhaps I'm just obtuse.

DukeLeto7

Damn, that's a shame about the TWC cover guy. Those covers were coming through nicely, and it would have been good to retain the consistency. Hopefully you can find someone who can match the style.

Lamsey

The real lesson of TBS3 is that if you try to dig a moat around your pyramid, it'll sink.

Decanter

The real question is "why is annikath so reliable and consistent when many other artists aren't?" Annikath is an exception, not the norm.
