January 30 Update

Okay, time to talk OEA. Starting with one more piece of fanart from Argo, finishing out the cast! The plan is to release this in late Q1, but the timing has almost nothing to do with how much time/work I put into it. We'd want some delay anything, since releasing near the lunar new year sale is unwise, but there are some other variables.

One factor is testing for final bugs, as well as adding a few tweaks and final assets. I intend to put out another build once a few more things come in, then hopefully there will be plenty of time to be confident that it's going to Steam essentially free of bugs.

But the larger factor is delays built into the process: it would be foolish to release the game abruptly instead of setting a date at least a month away. This is because the game being on the "upcoming" lists is beneficial to racking up more wishlists. I also have a better chance of being on "popular upcoming" lists than with any previous game, which is why wishlists are helpful.

On top of that, I am leaning toward doing an Early Access period and using that time to try to figure out achievements and other Steam elements. This is the only part of the process that will require substantial work on my part. Otherwise, the path toward release is mainly about setting various countdowns at the appropriate times.

Hopefully this means the process will proceed smoothly while I work on TLS and other things, but right now I am tired.

In other news, Chasmfall is selling better than the previous best record for the series, but not as well as I'd hoped. More discussion on my SFW subreddit and Discord, which is nice. I've also been invited to an r/fantasy panel this Saturday, so I'll probably be messaging you guys about it. Otherwise, I intend to keep my head down and work.

I can't wait to see the final build! Its been a mountain of work, but it's for a world of accomplishment.

I'm afraid it isn't a high priority. Music is moderately expensive and often not appreciated: people tend to assume everything in RPG Maker is a default track even when it isn't.

Hey Sierra. I was curious, have you ever considered using some of your funds to comission short tracks for any of your games? I had recently played Black Souls 2 (I would totally reccomend you do the same if for nothing else than to see the insane stuff that can be pulled off with RPGmaker) and was struck by the music's quality. Would trying to commission some of your own music be prohibitively expensive? Here's an example track from theirs. https://youtu.be/MO76BZcmDdg

As a $10 patron, you will receive a standalone version for no additional cost, no worries. I do want as many wishlists as possible, even from those who won't buy, but I understand that not everyone can have adult games on their account. Hope you enjoy Chasmfall!

Sierra Lee

I have Chasmfall, just haven't read it yet, looking forward to OEA, but not on steam, I'd prefer a stand alone version, as I try to keep my games segregated. :D (That and not let my friends and family see what I'm playing.)
