December 19 Update

Events attempted to conspire against me, but I overcame them! This was the best week for TLS work in a while, making some good progress. Of course, I want to be making great progress, not good progress, so I'm going to keep this post short and hope that this momentum holds.

Meanwhile, please do check out some of the other stuff going on:

Holiday releases don't work well, so I've missed my chance for a final release this year, but I will still be hard at work. If anyone has stuff to message me about (for example I got some kind programming help from Decanter) don't hesitate to contact me. Otherwise I will be working quietly.

Hey, SL. So it turns out that I'm taking an "involuntary extended vacation of indeterminate length" starting next Friday, and since I've solved one trivial TLS bug without actually using any Ruby scripting, I've decided, in my hubris, to take a swing at fixing the lingering problems with Hime's Tile Swap script next month. Believe it or not, I think I have a general idea how to go about doing it... in that I know what I think needs to be done in a meta-code sense but I simply need to start hitting my brain and a Ruby manual against the existing script until it submits. But before that I want to make sure that I know what all of the tile_swap issues are. I believe they can be summarized as "The tile_swap code doesn't always properly copy the formatting of wall corners and and some waterfall effects in the original map." I know there's also some bad documentation of the "layer" variable that handles the B, C, D and E tabs of a tileset, and the toy tile swapping test game I made the last time I looked at it didn't really handle bridges very well, but that may be a symptom of the issue as I defined it above. I have some other ideas of improvements to make to the game via scripting, some of which I've pitched to you before, but I'll post them with the Sunday update and see how many you think are necessary and/or are desired by the other patrons.

Now that you mention it, he kind of does - I was more focused on Annah, Carina and Yelarel's expressions to give good feedback on him. Ah well. Maybe he's loosened up a bit or something, or this is on Ivala's request.

This looks like yarra got her wishes conceded...maybe you should add these scenes as some kind of powerful being "granting" her the wishes of her past? haha

Thanks, you too!

Yes, it sadly feels like this one is going to continue. I can only imagine how rough it is for those working on the front lines. Regardless, of all that, I hope you have a better 2022!

Sierra Lee

Happy Holidays, Take care of yourself. Enjoy some food. Rest a bit. Good luck.

All is fun and quietly until Agnus Dei from Samuel Barber starts playing in the background. I'm glad you had a better week, mine not so well, covid is rising, this is a neverending story, oh well. Have a nice week and holidays.

Simon looks a little maniacal in the 3rd pic.

genericname12345 you are the friggin man!!! or woman.. if your a woman. haha. But damn this fanart is amazing and the scenarios are pretty damn hot. I wish my imagination was as good as yours haha. And as for Sierra I wasn't really expecting a release before the end of the year but im sure your still doing what you can. It has been a good year for me and I hope it was for all of you as well.

My experience with Kickstarter is years out of date now, but as I recall, the usual pattern is rapid growth the first week, a lull in the middle, and then a stronger final week. The conventional wisdom was that the first benchmark for a strong campaign was hitting 33% funded within a few days, then the second is 50% funded before the first week. If a campaign reaches that point, it will generally meet or exceed its goals due to backers who only look at campaigns that are nearly done or nearly funded. That was the context for my statement, anyway. Good luck!

Holidays are usually quiet for me, so sometimes they've been among my most productive periods. However, you can count on a yearly post with reflection and planning as usual! I've been turning it over in my head for a while now.

Sierra Lee

In an ideal world, the update will be ready by the end of the month, but I wouldn't release then due to the holiday season. Updates come out when they're ready, not according to a monthly schedule. How quickly I finish will have less to do with time and more to do with how many frustrating distractions I encounter.

Sierra Lee

I'm flattered, and really glad to have your support. I definitely hope Complex Relations is on track to meet stretch goals, but since this is my first time running a Kickstarter and seeing the behind-the-scenes figures, all my intuitions about what to expect from the campaign are kind of getting chucked out the window. If it can keep up its current trends along the lines that other projects have though, I'll be extremely pleased.

I feel december and such hollydays should be more of a down time to take things slow, or re planing and looking back at the overall performance of the year and re planing for january

Leveler All

First off I do like those new pictures you posted. Second it's a bummer you couldn't have this update ready by the 31st but I understand. The question I have is could this be ready by early January and I do mean early not the end of January. Because I've noticed you generally don't make a release until the end of the month. And if you still get good work done the next two weeks will you still need another month for it? I'd hope not but I suspect you'd say you will need another full month and it's been months already.
