August 21 Update

I made the wrong decision last week. =/ I should have piled in all the minor distracting tasks then, since I had trouble ramping up to peak productivity. I'm doing this post a day early and trying to schedule as many tasks as possible on Saturday so that I can start Sunday fresh and hopefully have a fully focused week.

Please vote/review if you use Newgrounds to increase the demo's reach! (Or Reddit posts.) Hopefully it will be effective in drawing people to the Steam page. At least it wasn't very time-intensive, and replying to reviews is generally not too distracting. With this done, there's no more OEA work on my plate until I dedicate time to making version 0.5.0.

Anyway, I'll keep this short so it doesn't serve as procrastination. I am working and I hope to report that I've worked more next week.

Thanks for your report! This is the sort of thing that I do like to fix, but I believe that I've implemented a fix since the most recent release. I could be mistaken, but I added an extra event page in there so Iris should no longer appear during that visit. But that aside, thanks for all the kind words! Though I'm grateful to everyone who supports silently, it's nice to hear from those who enjoy my work. ^-^ I'm committed to making TLS the best finished game it can be in the engine and I hope to be able to experiment with other things in the future.

Thank them for the reports! The staircase was an inconsistency produced by copy-pasting a changed event, so good to fix, sure. Talking to objects from a distance away due to counter tiles is something that I'm lukewarm on, since it seems generally harmless. I can just make Simon ellipsis in this case. Esthera talking about the wine... I don't know, that dialogue should only occur after she's joined, right? I think it's okay for characters to just show up after that. Edits to Simon's faceset are probably not that difficult, but what's definitely not happening is replacing the hundreds of dialogue boxes during that section.

Hi there, I'd like to report a bug in TLS (or rather an illogical conversation). I skipped any other comment to avoid spoilers for me, so I hope it's no issue if this has been mentioned already. I started Iris' quest (visiting fashion stores around the world) before the Second Gathering. Now, on day three of the Gathering, when visiting Climax with Riala's party, I can trigger a conversation between Iris, Nalili and Yarra in the Orgasmic Emporium. This shouldn't be possible at that specific moment as all of them are occupied elsewhere. Aside from this, this is my first comment on your work: I've been silently supporting you work so far, just lurking updates without writing anything. Today, I'd like to express my admiration over what you've created with this game. (I'm not familiar with your other work and I don't know much about game development. I do have a long history in gaming, though, and I keep myself up-to-date about innovation and culture in games and their design.) I've never seen a game that starts with such a simple premise and becomes so complex. The cast of characters is extraordinary, the vast majority of them not exchangible but truly unique. They don't have personas attached to them, they ARE their own personality. Even though the general path is set, every decision matters somehow and shapes the world. And MEANINGFUL decisions not something most games have nowadays. And don't get me started on the investments... On top of it is a story that, turn after turn, keeps surprising and entertaining me - and, again, has a simple premise at the beginning but builds a world around it that goes beyond many seen in other games. So, thank you for this experience! Thank you for giving me hundreds of hours having fun (and frustrating moments with challenging enemies 😉) playing this game. To have accomplished all this with such an old engine... this itself is a feat. I can see the limitations of it and can only imagine what would be possible with an up-to-date version. I can read frustration and resignation in your updates sometimes and can only suspect the difficulties you're facing. But I hope this praise is another affirmation that you're on the right track. Despite being early access, this game is in surprisingly good shape. So don't bother too much on a personal level about bugs and mistakes that occur. Allow yourself to relax, too! And to take some time off, especially after a big update. I have the feeling that this community has the greatest sympathy imaginable for that. 😉

More bug reports from the wiki forum from our new OCD-afflicted contributor, thisgamething. Suggested consistency edit to Orgasmic Palace 3F, events (023, 026) and (024,026). Entering either of these deposits the player at Orgasmic Palace 4F (013,031), the same as (022,026). To match the behavior of the other staircases, (023,026) should be matched to (013,032) and (024,026) should match (013,033). Note the matching descent events in Orgasmic Palace 4F do so. Orgasmic Palace 4F, (010, 009) (The box with the Worn Whip). When the box is left open during the 1st Gathering, the underlying table tile acts as a "counter" allowing the player to "talk" to the event at (010,008) when positioned at (010,010). Report doesn't specify if this behavior continues after the box is removed after the Gathering. I don't have a save in the middle of Simon's route, but the behavior does persist after Ch. 5. Not really sure this can be fixed as such. Making the table tile type "non-counter" will break the Librarian's desk on the third floor. Additionally I found that the event at (010, 008) has Esthera describing the wine vintage post 2nd gathering even if she isn't present in the room, and there's no indication that she's accompanying the group. thisgamething noted that these are kinda minor as bugs go, but I told him to keep looking on the remote chance he finds something important. He also noted that there's no "shirtless Simon" face/portrait to match the chibi in the first phase of Simon's route, but I explained the "found art" nature of most of TLS' graphics. Even if making such a face were a priority, I'm not sure Annikath could match the art style.

Hmm, I don't see the scene anywhere in the Reflect script, so you're probably right. I've added it attached to the synergy trigger... which is actually wrong, because you get that before seeing the scene. If someone else wants to find the right event ID for a self-switch, I'll use that instead.

Bug report for something that might have slipped through unnoticed for awhile now, but the sex scene one sees for the Yarra Nalili synergy scene for lash of torment, does not appear in Simon's reflect menu.

If you're playing the Patreon build, that should be the full game. There shouldn't be any artificial barriers keeping you from reaching either the first or second ending.

Its strange isn't it? That Sierra does a great job working on the big details yet she has this trouble with little details. I dont mean this as a complaint. Just the idea that most people would think its the other way around. She does great work on the little details. Like updating dialouge with other characters. Such as those two arguing in Yhilns merchant quarter about Janine. Those two girls one human and one succubi. So I hope she resolves this situation quickly.

The majority of profile images are a specific size; when displayed unshifted, they have a gap between the bottom of the image and the text box. I don't like how this looks, so I established the shift as standard procedure. Some character profiles, however, are larger than the standard size, and thus may bleed behind the text box. In theory I could have trimmed some, but I didn't find it as visually unpleasant. If a profile image leaves a gap, however... the one I see on your list is Dari's first appearance. Can anyone confirm if it should be shifted like the others? Anyway, it's not too pedantic, but now that you have my reasoning, let me know if any of these don't line up properly.

So I noticed something for TLS, thought I'd put it here. Not sure if this is too pedantic but here it is. Some of the character images, the larger images that appear the first time you meet major characters, are vertically off-shifted. Most seem like they're positioned so that the bottom edge of the image is aligned with the top edge of the text box, but some are shifted up to leave a blank space between the text box and the bottom of the image and some are shifted down so that part of the image is visible through the semi-transparent text box. Not sure if some of these might be a stylistic choice. Here is a list of off-shifted images I found. Altina - Prologue - Shifted Down Ivala (or Mystery Divine Being IDK) - Prologue - Shifted Down Tal - Feroholm Temple (Chapter 1) - Shifted Down Dari (Human Form) - Vhala's Office Post Rescue (Chapter 2) - Shifted Up Fuani - First Trip To Zirantia (Chapter 3) - Shifted Down Neranda - Eustrin Visit (Chapter 3) - Shifted Up The Anak - First Gathering (Chapter 2) - Shifted down The Incubus King - First Gathering (Chapter 2) - Shifted down Lustlord - First Gathering (Chapter 2) - Shifted down * Interestingly, the three above characters, along with Esthera and Estavan, all have their image shown for a second time during the first gathering (either appearing in the prologue or after the horde battle in chapter 2). Esthera and Estavan both have identical image placements, but the other three are different. Finally, there are a few that I'm not sure if I missed them or if they don't have a larger character image.
