May 16 Update

Still taking care of sundry business, but sadly this week it was a chore instead of enjoyable. So let's start with something nicer: another piece of fanart! Visible above or here. It's Melissa being herself. ^-^ Thanks to Argo the Ratfolk for commissioning this!

DStP 0.3.0: Put out another build for $5 patrons. If no feedback requires significant reworking, I guess I'll roll on to the Newgrounds version next weekend.

OEA Trailer: I've picked a video editor and handed over all the assets... except for video footage. I need to record some clips of the combat system and of different characters walking through certain environments. Not sure whether this is something any volunteers would be willing to do, or whether I should just gird my loins and force myself to record some stuff.

Cover Issues: As some of you may know, I've had a problem with finding appropriate book covers for some series. My networking has failed me, so I decided to try Reddit again, but it resulted in 50+ responses scattered between comments/chats/messages, some of them duplicates, many ignoring my criteria or clearly not paying attention to what I wrote. -_- I need to wade through that now and get it taken care of, but finding a simple graphic designer is proving much more frustrating than I'd hoped.

OEA Maps: Many of these are ordinary interiors, but be sure to check out the nicer half of New Canisan. Also the first Mine map, which establishes the pattern for the others, and the revision of the forest based on feedback.

TLS Teasing: In addition to more scenes, Annikath and I are working on a little something I hope people will find fun. ^-^ It might be premature to mention it now, but please look forward to a bit of art that's different from anything we've done before.

Yeah, the staircase behind the innkeeper is meant to imply the existence of other rooms. I did ask for the item shop to be more of a grocery store for the sake of the meat buns, but perhaps we could try harder to represent them.

Canisan Inn has only two rooms? Might add a staircase up or down just so you can theoretically have more, even if in practice the innkeeper just yells at you for trying to go there. I see no meat buns on display in the item shop. I like Canisan's guard towers.

That's very recognisably the Melissa from the SC3 cover, although it actually does a better job of depicting the darkness of her void flame and the brightness of her cheeky demeanour, so thumbs up here. The jackalope on the kimono is a very nice touch. My headcanon image of her still looks more like the original character concept art, though. New Canisan looks good in general - it's consistent with the slums style-wise but noticeably more upmarket. Some of the dark/dirty marks look like they're ignoring the boundaries between the ground and the buildings, especially around the inn. The weathervane on the inn is also placed oddly, since it would normally sit atop the roof's highest point to be able to catch the wind from all angles. The shadows on the watchtowers in the southern corners could be improved to make it clearer that their top sections rise above the cliffs. The Canisan Mine also looks good, although the tents could maybe do with some sooty stains to go with the overall griminess of the Tale (and mine environments in general). Some dust around the railtrack might be good too, to signify mess from the unloading of carts. The branches in the New Canisan forest look much improved. The extra variation helps to make it look more like the shattered remnants of a carelessly-felled forest, and the boundaries between passable/impassable areas look clearer now. The shop interiors all seem fine to me. I wonder if the accessory shop makes all customers go through some sort of cleaning spell before they enter. It'd be a bugger to get Canisan Filth out of that carpet otherwise... The inn and the pub also look fine, although it too me a moment to work out what was going on with the gap in the the north-east wall of the pub. I assume it's to depict the chimney, but it struck me as odd that there's a gap in the wall outline.

All of the new OEA art looks great, including the forest revision! I also like the fanart. I do not envy you as you search for a graphic designer but I wish you good luck!
