May 9 Update

First, look at the new Ulfina sprite! After a long wait, the pixel artist has completed her update (old version placed second so you can compare). This is our last chance to get changes without hiring someone new, so please look closely. For example, Ulfina's torso doesn't seem to have been edited in two out of three frames of her victory animation.

As usual, we have more OEA maps. There aren't as many next week because we spent a bunch of time on the New Canisan city map, which isn't ready to show, and tweaks to the previous maps as you guys suggested. Thoughts?

Unrelated to all this, I got two pieces of surprise fanart for Street Cultivation! If you use Instagram, maybe give the artist a follow here, but someone put up Reddit versions for those without IG accounts. I always like to see fan enthusiasm, so please support them if you're so inclined. ^-^

I agree with the others, Ulfina's victory cycle is still missing the goods and it's very noticeable. The maps are amazing as usual and I have no strong criticisms of what I see there.

Thanks for all the feedback! I agree about the victory animation. We actually worried about how visible the walkability would be on that map, and implemented lighter/darker dirt to try to make it clearer.

New Ulfina looks great in general. Posting them side by side made it really easy to compare so good idea there. If I was being picky, one of the worst sprites for her looking like she randomly has a lack of chest is the victory sprites and it looks like she only had an adjustment made to one of the three sprites there. It might be fine in game but I'm not certain here. And I only ever found it jarring because she does not look like she lacks in that area in her CG art, particularly in the menu. If she wasn't so huge there the sprite wouldn't have bothered me personally (and even then it was a small thing). The New Canisan Forest looks good in general but I am wondering if it'll be difficult to parse walkable terrain. It might also be fine in game when things are more zoomed in but there it is for what it is worth. I think the bathhouse looks great! OEA art has been fantastic across the board IMO.

I was thinking that the unedited frames in Ulfina's victory animation might be OK since her arms are raised, which would perhaps stretch out her boobs, but I just tried it ingame and it does look mismatched; there's a noticeable jump between the first and second frames. The changes seem OK otherwise. Hood's new victory animation looks a little bit like a jaunty dance, which still feels a little out of character, but it's a lot smoother than the old two-frame version. Canisan Forest looks good for the most part. The broken branches on the ground are a bit odd when they're mirrored, since the shadows and highlights are in the opposite direction from usual. I'd maybe be inclined to reduce their numbers so it's not so noticeable with so many mirrored copies being right next to each other. Bathhouse looks good, can't see any problems.

Big Ol boobies aside (which are in no way not important!) just comparing the two pictures side by side, New Ulfina looks a lot more colorful/vibrant, which is great considering her character! .
