Novel #1

Thanks for your feedback in the last post, everyone. Though I put this off while I was fully focused on TLS 0.39.x, I'm now back to talk more about my writing side projects. Specifically, the first novel I'll be writing under my SFW pseudonym: Sarah Lin.

The probable book title is "New Faces" while the series title is "New Game Minus." Both are pretty theme-appropriate, and I hope that they'll balance each other out. They do both include the word "New" though - I'm considering alternates. The picture for this post is just a mock-up from the artist, who will be fully painting the cover.

Reactions from the relevant subreddits have been fairly positive, though it remains to be seen if they'll like the actual novel, and if that will translate into any success. As I've stated elsewhere, I'm planning this as a story that will end at a satisfying conclusion in a trilogy, but could easily extend beyond that if there's interest. That way I can experiment without leaving anything unfinished.

(Though actually, I might also attempt a second trilogy that would stand alone. Right now it's at the stage where I might scrap the idea if I don't feel it works, but I'm considering a shot at the "dungeon core" genre. Stories where the protagonist is a sentient dungeon, basically. If it works, it would be a standalone trilogy in the same universe as the main series.)

As I've said, patrons will get access to everything I write! The first step of that is occurring now, as this link contains the first novel in several formats:

The synopsis is below, if you want to read that, but I'll say a little more about it. This is meant to be a light and quick read, coming in at 120k words. It's in a game-inspired genre, though I've tried to give a new perspective via the unusual protagonist. Give it a try if you're interested!

Now, patrons will get free copies and information about my writing here, but if you're interested in my writing specifically, consider joining my new mailing list:

Market research suggests that mailing lists are one of the most effective tools for authors, and I'll be using it to contact people who don't know about my Patreon. I don't plan to spam people, just give notifications about new books. Joining could help me gauge overall interest and growth.

Synopsis

Bloodwraith thought of himself as an effective villain, until a single adventurer destroyed his entire lair. With his last breath, he switched bodies with the adventurer and discovered that his world was built on lies. Alien beings from another dimension were using his world as a game... and now he was one of them.

The problem is, Bloodwraith has no experience being an adventurer. He was a mage, but his new body is only good at hitting things. He relied on undead minions, but now he has no choice but to depend on other people. And worst of all, strange boxes are constantly appearing in his vision, describing the world in unfamiliar, nonsensical terms.

Taking over the world is off the table, because the alien gods might be watching. To survive, Bloodwraith will need to learn the truth about himself and his world. And that means acting like an adventurer, at least for now.

In Conclusion

If you have feedback on the book, maybe message it to me instead of commenting. But anyway, if you have thoughts on this new project, on the title/cover/synopsis, or anything else of that nature, I'd love to hear from you!
