September 30 Update

Okay, September is done. My primary goal was to survive the month, but I managed to finish the TLS update, send out the novel, and beta test Crimson Gray 1.5. I also (mostly) wrapped up some major things like moving, which I hope will make my life a bit easier for the foreseeable future.

But things aren't going to let up, starting with the release of Crimson Gray 1.5! I would like to do it this coming weekend, because the later I get into October, the more I compete with AAA titles and Steam sales. I really would like to do my best with this launch, so it will require my focus for a while. Sadly, even though the creative work on the game is done, plenty more remains. More information on that at the bottom of the post.

Feedback on the novel will continue to flow in, I assume. Image for this post is another major character. If you were chosen as a reader and haven't had time to read much yet, that's fine, but I'd appreciate hearing from you. Not sure exactly how novel stuff will go, but you may hear more about it as it progresses.

You may also get some mystery developments in October! I'm just waiting on artistic assets for DStP, so at some point there will be a public demo for that. Also some other things with ambiguous timing. But the month should be less stressful than September, so hopefully all will proceed mostly smoothly.

That's all for this week except marketing rambling regarding the release.

-

Marketing is a weakness of mine, but I don't want to just kick my games out into the world and have them disappear into the tide of new games. That means giving up precious creative time. T-T Here are the things I will be doing to try to release CG 1.5 properly:

So yes, while this won't take huge amounts of time, it's definitely a chunk of work I'll need to force myself through this week. Mention if I'm forgetting anything obvious. Regardless, please wish me luck!

Comments

Hey! I appreciate you volunteering, but last time you said you weren't sure if you could actually give feedback. I'll be honest as well: I'm pretty anxious about this book, especially about what people will think of it. X| Not going to send to anyone new just yet, regardless, as I'm working on a more polished version.

Sierra Lee

Hey, hey! Looking for reading material. Plz let me see.

Ezzie

I actually had in mind an African drinking gourd, since the ecosystem is based on the Serengeti. Further research suggests that there are actually all types of gourds in most places, though.

Sierra Lee

She looks enough like Varia that I made the connection before noticing the gourd. Not a calabash, eh?

Kenzurith

Sending me a message on Patreon would be fine. If you prefer not to use Patreon, message me anyway and we can exchange emails or something.

Sierra Lee

If we do have comments for your novel, how do we get them to you

Retromancer

Thanks, glad you like it!

Sierra Lee

The concept art is good; her identity is instantly recognisable (burrrp). Not too sure about the eyes, but it is only concept art, after all.

Lamsey

Too many Bowsette today, not sure if it is a hot topic or not when DSTP is finished.

Iamdexter

Not sure? Maybe it could result in the wrong kind of attention, or maybe I'll coincidentally get more of the good kind. I'm open to suggestions, but otherwise I'm just leaving that project on the backburner.

Sierra Lee

Thanks for the best wishes! And I appreciate you checking in. Sending reviews in chunks is also fine.

Sierra Lee

Will the whole "super crown" thing, and the fact that Super Mario is apparently now a fertile ground for porn, change anything regarding Don't Save the Princess?

Rachnera

Best wishes on those endeavors! Also still need to send my review on the book.
