Thinking about Ouroboros
Added 2018-04-04 22:17:42 +0000 UTCHey, $10 people! It's time to think about Ouroboros and what's necessary to release it on Steam.
One thing that I think it absolutely needs is a trailer that shows off some features and hints at the premise of the game; otherwise I think Ouroboros will be savaged/ignored by the Steam audience. Trailers are one of those things where multiple people express some interest but no one steps forward - please post or message me if you're still interested.
Second, it could probably use achievements. This will take a bit of my time to figure out and add, but otherwise will probably not be that big a deal.
The final issue is one I wanted to get people's input on: I'm trying to decide whether or not to make a small addition to the Steam version. Certainly not a major expansion of the game: that feels too much like looking backwards to me, and it would just take momentum away from things I'd prefer to focus on. But I think there are arguments for adding a little.
Since Ouroboros is an old game and many people would be getting it for the second time, I'd like to offer something that makes this version feel like it's giving them something new in exchange. However, that could be a double edged sword: I could see people who got the previous version feeling like I was pushing them to buy the same game again. You guys would get access for free regardless, of course, but thoughts?
For the record, the addition I was thinking of was adding a few sex scenes. Not major alternate routes, but events rounding out the content of the game. The art would be from Santy (haven't asked about this, but I'm in contact with him) so it would match the rest of the game. I have not started thinking about this yet, so I don't have specific proposals and I'd probably ask for suggestions.
Those are my primary thoughts! As I've said, I'm in no particular rush to release Ouroboros on Steam, but I hope to amble in that direction over time as I finish other things. Please do give your thoughts on how that path should go, particularly nudging me off the fence regarding an addition to the game.
This month is practically swarming with things that are close to done, but I'm waiting on one element, or haven't finished something, or I'm just working on more important things. I will be trying to juggle everything in an efficient way, but there should be some interesting things for you guys in time.
