July 4 Update

This week had a ton of up and downs. You may or may not have heard about how Patreon had a problem with charging cards. It's resolved now, but it was a little alarming at first and people who rely on Patreon income had some unpleasant times. I'm bleeding out backers, but hopefully they were opportunists instead of disappointed fans. T-T Anyway, this week I made just average progress due to work. My job tends to go in cycles and I should get some easier weeks soon, so I'm confident I'll pick up the slack. One of the first things I did was get together all of the new assets. You're going into a new area, which means some new tiles, but none of these have been properly set up. This isn't just setting up the tilesets, though - I also tested them out and did tweaking until I had a new map I was happy with. You'll get to see some fun areas next time. ^-^ Also jumped ahead and wrote a bunch of the core scenes (sex and otherwise) for this update. Just... kind of because that's what I was feeling inspired to do. You can expect a new harem member this update, somebody you already know. After that, though, wrenches are getting thrown straight into the works. This update is really going to move the plot forward, hopefully in a direction you all enjoy but didn't necessarily expect.

Comments

I don't know about that... Yes she learned about "will" from Simon, but will is about not giving in to things you don't want when being forced, or about not giving in to "temptation" for things you believe are wrong. They aren't truly related, so while I see Simon having an issue with it, Robin is more likely to be the one who needs less convincing. From what she said in this last update, I'm thinking she might want it, at least a little. (As I've always kind of suspected honestly...) I thought she was going to ask Riala about it right before they got interrupted. And her comment about loving each other no matter how their relationship may change, and prior to that the "even our relationship may change" bits make it seem like she is more amenable to the idea than people think. Likely, she has always had a thing for her adoptive father, and just knows that he would see it as... not okay. It seems more to me that her talk about how their relationship may change was her hinting to him, subconsciously preparing him for her revealing her feelings and asking him to love her no matter what, even if he is disgusted by the thought when she confesses. She's just nervous about telling her "father" what she feels, also why she was embarrassed that Yarra told him that she was still a virgin. Most daughters would just use that as a thing to make their father proud. "See daddy? I'm not a slut like my roommate! I'm a good girl." On the other hand, while I think she already desires Simon, I do agree that it'll take something major for Simon to take Robin in the harem. Likely some kind of accident or unintended result of her being corrupted by being the holder of his "soul" while maintaining the connection between him and the Doomed King. She wouldn't even tell him about the corruption at first, knowing that he would take that responsibility from her, a responsibility that she takes pride in. As for Alonon, yes apathetic does describe him well, and we are always shown little interludes of the other Incubus Kings, it looks like (I think all those "side" characters we get visions of are them, except the one that was obviously Ivala) and this is probably representative of the soul pieces calling to each other, seeking to be one again. One the other hand, I also think that Alonon breaks the fourth wall. "Everything is pointless," "peered beyond the veil of reality," "it's all a joke," etc. He may just realize that all of his reality is just a game, where even the Goddess is just a character, which fuels his apathy.

Secular Reason

"If/When Robin does join ...it's a result of something like what happened to Aka." That remains my guess if it's Robin. I believe she's too young for Simon, though much more mature mentally than her classmates. That said, he'd go to whatever lengths necessary to save her from deterioration into a f#@ktoy that we all know is a result of being around Simon for too long these days. That said, Carina is still my #1 guess, although I could also be convinced the naga wants to join the party.

Theoden is the lord of Rohan in Lord of the Rings. IK only being the boss of the first act of the play seems a strong possibility with what we know about the existence of multiple more fragments. In regards to Alonon being a fragment bearer, it would explain much if he knew what he had and refused to empower it. He is so weak now because not utilizing it has sapped his life force tremendously. He refuses to produce an heir because that would require feeding the soul fragment. He is driven to nihilism because of some knowledge gained from the fragment or what led to him acquiring it. Carina feels like the most likely contender, although Robin is going to be a possibility right up until she joins the harem or the game ends. She learned about will from Simon and everyone's favorite succubus was told not to meddle anymore, so it's going to take outright accidents and/or outside influence for Robin to want to take that step and both she and Simon can easily control their desire. If/When Robin does join she'll be the instigator unless it's a result of something like what happened to Aka.

Simon seems to prefer practical weapons.

Andra doesn't even have more than one facial expression, so there's that too. Simon expressed disinterest in Robin's classmates. I wouldn't count on IK being the final boss, to be honest. We know now that there are other fragment-bearers of similar power, some of whom aren't such fuckwits. Still doubt it's Iris though. You have a point about Alonon and Riala's speech. I didn't read it that way, but it's certainly possible. Who is Theodon? I don't remember him from the game and Google turns up little.

Decanter

Much like Decanter, I was working under the assumption that only those women with bust images were potential mistresses, so I never considered characters like Ina, Sister Kara, Lucy or Robin's roommates. Of course, then Sierra had to give Hester a bust image, so I'm not sure. I don't see gerontophilia on the list of future fetishes, but it could be argued that she's already in that territory with Simon. Andra is probably an unlikely harem member. Her image was originally a potential replacement for Carina, and her character was only added later when the image gave Sierra an idea for a minor character. That isn't to say she won't, but she originally wasn't planned to. The impression I've gotten from Sierra's various posts is that we won't be returning to Yhilin for a few updates, so that would rule out Janine and Sarai. Wynn was just introduced, and we haven't actually met her yet. Riala has to stay in the Incubus King's inner circle for the time being. I doubt it is Robin, partially because it feels like there is a step or two missing between where she is now and there. I hadn't actually considered Iris. While I'd rank her as the second most likely given recent developments, she probably does more to run the Incubus King's domain than he does. For that reason, I feel she'd be one of the last people to join the harem. Once she goes, the Incubus King will be much more like a wild, cornered animal. That strikes me as something that will happen leading to the climax. As for King Alonon having a soul fragment, part of what made me think that was Riala's comment that some fragment bearers were apathetic, which describes Alonon pretty well. He was a power during the war but has faded away. He refuses to marry and sire an heir. While he might be a parallel to Theodon, a once powerful ruler who's fallen under some malignant influence, part of me expects something else. Also, with the concept of minor fragments introduced, it seems likely we'll meet a few of these fragment bearers before finally confronting the Incubus King.

Sierra, look what you've done. You started a speculation thread. *Smirks and then laughs*

If I had to bet, I'd bet Carina. Maybe a crisis of faith drives her to find a new rock in Simon? I'm not confident of that guess, but the only other real possibilities are Janine and Robin. Janine seems a bit premature, although I guess it could help with the Doomed King plan, and there hasn't been a lot of development with Robin lately. I guess if by "somebody you already know" Sierra meant someone we the players know, rather than someone the party has met, it could also be Iris (the Incubus King's assistant). Doubt it though. We're unlikely to acquire anyone without a bust image, nor do I think we'll pick up Alonon, Andra, or Hester. Riala would invite IK's direct wrath before we're ready, so not her, and Sarai needs to stay "pure" to play her role. I don't see any reason to think Alonon has a soul fragment, no. Something happened to him, but I don't think it was empowering.

I think the king faced one or has something like the Palantir from LOTR. He seems to passive to have the power himself and seems more like he was put in a situation/feeling of helplessness and apathy that rules him. As for Carina, I'd say it goes 50/50, she could be a rescuable from the Fucklord's legions...or she could find out how far the Deconcecrationist have sunk and be on the run from them. Or she could be the leader and keep things from getting even worse. Ok, it's less 50/50 and more just lots of possibilities. I haven't had any issues myself and I've seen panics from others I fund so I guess I'm lucky to have avoided it as I got the confirmation yesterday my payments went through. Glad to hear the new stuff is coming along well and we will get to do some more exploring. The expansion of the world is well done and fits the story so I am and have been very happy with it. As for the new member, I can see Carina, the girl from the village, not Robin (unless she is separate from the University girls), not the queen or Riala, the sister Kara/karen maybe, I highly doubt it's the bitchy inquisitor, the hobbit high priestess would be hysterical but story breaking, not Lucy, . That really covers all those I can think of. I already think a wrench has been thrown in. The Fucklord doing his utterly random but believable invasion renders the Doomed King plan moot. Unless said Doomed King is then spun as an attempt by the Fucklord to put forces in the middle of the enemy to weaken the front lines...actually, it would fit better if he was presented as someone taking advantage of the chaos to start his own little empire. That actually mean the invasion will helped the plan.

I also did not have problems with the charge going through. Speculation: Of those we know, Carina, Janine and Robin all seem likely choices. That said, there are a few others (ancillary characters) who could definitely also fit the bill. And yes, I suspect the tiring Alonon has one.

Braendt

I hadn't heard anything about Patreon having any problems. I got my e-mail on the 2nd, just like every other month, informing me it went through. Anyway, glad that got cleared up, and, hopefully, as you said, the backers who are dropping out are just the leeches and not disappointed fans. Now for wild speculation: Is our new harem member going to be Carina? She did say she was going to the watch towers, and the moment I heard that the Incubus King was going to invade Ardoheim, I thought that Carina was right in the line of fire and Simon would probably have to rescue her. Also, does anyone else suspect King Alonon may have a soul fragment? As always, I don't expect the author to comment on this, but I'd enjoy hearing other patrons' thoughts.
