New Update Suggestion

Mathew P's suggestion wasn't showing up on the comments thread for New Rotation System, So i decided to just post it here:

-------------------------------------

The stories should be categorized by completion percentage and then sectioned off. With that done the polls can then be more focused and won't have to worry so much about removing stories from rotation if they've been picked too much.

EX Ranked: 80% completion or higher.

A Ranked: 60-80%

B Ranked: 40-60%

C Ranked: 20-40%

D Ranked: 1-20%

E Ranked: Story ideas to be picked up in the future based on how close the newest EX ranked story is to being finished.

One EX Ranked story will be chosen for the Tuesday update every week to ensure that those stories that are on their way to being done keep on moving.

Then one story will be polled on from the A, B, C, and D Ranked story groups each week to ensure that the newer stories can pick up some traction.

Considering there is only 3 stories that I think might fit the description for EX (Vast, Holy Man, and Fate In Time), the last Tuesday slot can be a Wild Card slot. The Wild Card is chosen by you out of three stories you think need some love, and then the three stories are polled on.

Monthly Cycle would look like this:

Week 1: EX Story 1, A Ranked Poll Winner

Week 2: EX Story 2, B Ranked Poll Winner

Week 3: EX Story 3, C Ranked Poll Winner

Week 4: Wild Card, D Ranked Poll Winner

If there aren't enough stories to meet the requirements for completion to fill in B and C ranks (as far as I know, a number of stories have just begun, with three stories that feel like their close to being finished), then you can just group stories together that you feel are of equivalent popularity.

When an EX ranked story has been completed then you can choose from one of the other groups to fill it's update slot.

For example:

EX Ranked Stories:

- Vasto of White

-Holy Man of Church Creek

-Fate-in-Time

A Ranked Stories:

- Huntsman of Red V2

- Fate: Hero and Sword

B Ranked Stories:

- Fate: Kill

- The Magus Among Ninjas

C Ranked Stories:

- A Tale of Two Swords

- Fate Stay Cooking

D Ranked Stories:

- The Fate of Monsters

- Fate Strikers

So when, lets say, Fate-in-Time is completed, then one of the A Ranked stories gets bumped up in it's place and the list shifts up. Then an E Ranked story is selected via poll to fill the gap left in the D Rank bracket.

----------------------------------------

I'll make a poll for everyone to vote on a preferred method after Fate-In Time with all the other suggestions from the last post about a New Rotation System.

Comments

Yeah this seems pretty good, even if a story gets always picked it moves rank so that it leave space to other stories, i like it

Really all my suggestion does is smooth out the probability curve and increase the chances of a less picked story to win a poll. Instead of having 11 stories duke it out for two spots this drops it down to two stories per group in a head to head face off. So that way we still get our Fate-in-Time fix without having to kick one of the other stories to the curb. Sure, we will have to wait a month in between updates for one of our favorite Big 3 stories (Vasto, Fate in Time, Holy Man), but I think that the trade off is worth it: Greater consistency in release schedule (for the author and for us readers), more exposure for the stories that aren't the Big 3, and the author doesn't have to keep up with revolving out stories that got picked too often. That and now that I think about it the Wild Card slot could also be used as the debut slot for new stories (such as Fate: Strikers) or even an omake collection for the variety of stories you have here (two or three omakes, 2k - 3k words each) or just fun, zany, stupid stuff. It can be literally used for anything... LOL Cheers everyone! :)
