Fate-In time Poll

I'm doing this poll to get an idea of people's opinions of the path Fate-In Time can take. Its true that a writer can write what he or she wants, but at the same time, no writer should be obstinate and ignore the criticisms of the fan-base lightly either.

In which case, I decided to make this poll for a visual.

There are two options:

1. The original path I had down for the story which should lay its basis down within one to two more chapters.

or

2. Revise.  Something I can probably do this weekend

Comments

I would greatly approve of any which way Parcasious goes, I will admit that my original expectations was definitely of looking forward to shirou and artoria going through the tale with a new twist, kingdom building, and all kinds of things in line with a grand epic. But even if it is not in line with my expectations, it is a very interesting twist being done here, and I do think that Parcasious has proven far too good of an author to me to worry about him subverting my expectations. The only time I ever saw something that actually worried me enough that I felt it really needed to be redone was in Vasto of White, and he did rewrite it very quickly, and the reason I was really worried then was it looking dangerously close to following a plot line that's been tread many times before (if not very successfully by about any), thus removing a good deal of the originality I came to the fic for. As I have read many fate fics, there are a couple somewhat similar ones, and they are very good, but as far as I know no one has completed one, and they all tended to have shirou come in later in the timeline. So while my expectations are being subverted, it is because it is taking things in a very interesting way that I've really never seen attempted before. So I will be happy with either a really good fic that is somewhat rehashing an old idea, but one that never went to completion, or a new direction entirely.

Epic God of Chaos

Gotcha. Just remember we'll be here to support you if you need it. From what I've seen, you can trust us to keep it civil and constructive.

Kovaras

With the way it is for now, I'll probably continue for the time being before taking another poll for Fate-In time later

Parcasious

As apprehensive as some may be about the camlaan route, wouldn’t this mean that Shirou has to do something more impressive to stop canon events from happening? If history was barely changed by his actions, then something exemplary is gonna need to happen. Heck, he’s devoted to being a blacksmith of unmatched quality, he could forge the beginnings of a noble phantasm; his work recognized and proving his identity to those who doubt due to his amnesia. As much as people complain, less exciting, too predictable, the AU has already been a rollercoaster of how author-san can play with the canon yet still make it unique.

G1Splicer

Wow, an actual 50/50 split. It looks like you'll need to decide which way is the best way forward Parcasious, unless you want to start a forum for us to debate out the best ways forward from the story.

Kovaras

Me, i'm of the same mind as my earlier comment : Keeping the actual road is not gonna kill the story, but it's making it less interesting then using everything you previously built to create new story beats if decide to make everything end up at the same place that the legend already go.

HatofBacon

Hey, it might be a beautiful thing. Mordred who has never been shown love and care would have the very definition of selflessness be there to support her. Through Shirou, he may act as the bridge that mends the gap between Arturia and Mordred, creating a complete family.

Rita

He means, if you revise the story, could you still post a new chapter alongside the revisions all in one go.

Rita

In regards to the story line, I'm sure that many readers have different views on it. However, I believe that a majority of us are apprehensive of going down the Camlaan route in fear of: Having the story end afterwards and/or reading a tragic end to Mordred, Shirou and Arturia. Could you give a bit of insight as to whether or not your original story line yields a happy ending between the three of them?

Rita

Looking at how this poll is at 49/51 right now (but with people to go) I kind of wonder, does this poll just need majority or does it need a significant majority to alter the course of the plot? Besides that, I think the story is fine as is.

CyanMax

Now I must rebut G1Splicer, there is nothing original about the direction you have taken it, and it was the furthest possibility I want explored.

Googl7

If you change nothing else, get rid of Shirou basically cheating on Arturia by forcing him to latch onto Mordred.

Googl7

As long as it doesn't end in agony for poor Shiro, Arturia and Mordred, keep on going with your amazing story line.

Rita

Uf you have a plan already made, I want to see it. Changing things could ruin things.

Shance

Continue original. Think of it this way, if someone publishes a fiction book, a real hard copy book through scholastic or whatever publishing company for public availability, they have goals and directions in mind for a plot they created. Critical feedback is important, but it really shouldn’t have bearing on whether the book is retracted and revised just cause fans and readers want something changed. You have a plan, stick with it! Most the poor reviews are guest accounts and a lot of people are very interested in how you’re taking this in a direction not explored before. Don’t cave because someone wants your story written their way or how they expect it.

G1Splicer

What do you mean?

Parcasious

If you revise can you not count it against the vote chapters?
