Well, the golem just got taken home by Hermione's parents then immediately went to bed. Skeeter altered their memories so they thought Hermione was somewhere else. I should have described that clearer :p

I would have liked to have seen a scene with the golem perhaps trying to imitate Hermione and perhaps a clearer indication of how they returned Hermione home with no one the wiser. I think an adventure of the golem in Hermiones life might illustrate how everyone accepted the behavioral change.
