I think you only saw half of what happened when Ace resigned himself to his fate. You reacted heavily to him saying "I will accept the blade", but what he also said was "or I'll accept a helping hand." This is just my opinion, but Ace was always ready to accept the blade, because he brought it on himself. I think him now being willing to accept the help as well is the actual change that happened in that moment. Before, he kept yelling at everyone to not come for him in every other scene, but note how he's not making a sound ever since he surrendered himself to whatever is going to happen. Also, you asked whether Ace did something bad to think so lowly of himself. One of the reasons (among others) that Ace was so opposed to being rescued is, because he's blaming himself for getting into this situation and dragging everyone into war. Whitebeard told him not to go after Teech and he was too hot-headed and went anyway.

There is a reason Oda took his first, and only planned, month long break after this saga was over. So much just pure epicness packed into everything here!

I’m pretty sure it would’ve went that way if it was though. 😂

Oda said that after the main story is over, he will continue writing side-stories. Guess he's want to wrap up the story and then fill inn other stuff afterwards.

I think setting Boa's moaning there or something similar as a ringtone would be a very good payback against someone XD

Things are getting crazier by the episode. Chad Luffy strikes again and Hancock is, once again, trying to hold it together lol

Whitebeard's energy bubble thingy isn't a spoiler, so I'll do the honors: It's not Haki, no. Rather, his Quake-Quake Fruit works by creating powerful vibrations that he sends into the earth as seismic energy. Those bubbles he creates around his fist/weapon are (as I understand it) a visual representation of the distortion those energy vibrations cause in the air, emanating from the epicenter of his fist/weapon/wherever. The cracks he makes in the air are further distortions when he releases all that energy and it appears to disrupt reality.

I love how many times you rewatched Mihawk’s observation of Luffy - that is one of the best moments of the whole arc 😍
