V1.0.0.0 and the future of Rogschard
Added 2023-06-19 06:21:44 +0000 UTCGreetings everyone!
With the progress on final dungeon, the Church of Qir, the game is slowly heading towards its final encounter, and towards its release version. I am here today to talk about v1.0.0.0, and what that means for the future.
TLDR, from v1.0.0.0 forward, which is expected to release in +-3 months:
- Monthly releases will stop, and post-release content will come out on a when-it-is-done basis.
- Update/spoiler post will come out less frequently.
- Updates releases will still be given to Patreons 2 months in advance, before going public.
- The prompt-polls will apply to the next update, instead of the next month.
Once v1.0.0.0 releases, I will have been working on this project for about 2 years. The first version of Rogschard, v0.0.1, was a prototype I slapped together in little more then a month. Back then it was still fully placed text, made to look like you navigated a map, it didn't even support character stats yet, all choices where hard coded. The game has come a long way since then, with many fundamental changes to the core game-play and additional mechanics (perhaps a bit too many). But now, at long last, the end is in sight.
The v1.0.0.0 update will conclude the story, but that does not mean development will fully stop. There is still some things I would like to flesh out and add, but as I will be diverting some of my time to different projects, I will no longer be able deliver those in a neat monthly format. For this reason, updates following v1.0.0.0 will be coming out when-they-are-done. Other then that, things will stay mostly as they have always been.
I will keep the Patreon around, largely unchanged, if you want to continue supporting me. Patreons will still get the updates 2 months in advance, only the updates will no longer be on a monthly schedule. The prompt polls will also stay the same, except there will be one poll per update, instead of one poll per month.
And that concludes the changes coming in v1.0.0.0.
I want to thank my patrons, proofreaders, testers, Discord moderators, and player-base for their generous support. Without all of you the game would not have been able to reach its current state. The money from Patreon allowed me to do this project for far longer then I ever could without it. And even if you did not financially contribute, the fact people were playing and discussing my work was invaluable motivation. I thank you all form the bottom of my heart.
But enough sentimentality, there is still a couple of months of hard work to be done.
See you around~
