A personal update

I've never really posted much about my personal life here on Patreon. That's because my life is incredibly boring, mainly just drawing and playing games all day.

But now I've got a lot of art related thoughts in my mind and I figured some of you might want to know!

I'm moving!

The time is finally here! My boyfriend and I have been saving for months, and finally we found a great place and just got our mortgage offer! It'll take some days or weeks of paper pushing before we get the keys, but we're so close now!

The house will need some redecorating before we move in, so I'll trade my tablet pen for a big paint brush and paint some walls (and more) soon.

While we're in the process of moving and settling down I don't expect to do much art. But not to worry! I've been working overtime to make sure the digital rewards will still be as usual.

PS: June physical rewards might be shipped with a delay, depending how much of a mess the moving process will be. I'll keep you updated!

Time for an Upgrade

Right now my painting tools are a 4 year old laptop and a Wacom Bamboo Fun. These tools suit me just fine, except the occasional 5 minute wait just for flipping the canvas and the tablet disconnecting every 10 minutes.

It's time for an upgrade. Now that we're moving to a place that's bigger than our current 4 x 5 meter room, I finally have space to purchase a desktop PC - and - a monitor tablet!

I've been looking at reviews all over the place and I've settled for a UGEE 2150. Starting cheap and if I enjoy it more than my amazing Bamboo I'll treat myself to a Cintiq at some point. I'm super excited!

I plan to do an unboxing video and a review of the UGEE. Patrons will be the first to know when that happens, of course.

Saving up for iPad

The Ugee isn't the only thing I've been drooling at. Lacey and Charlie Bowater (and many other artists) have acquired iPad Pro's, and man am I jealous. It seems like a great tool for drawing when you need to be flexible, and I want it.

But after moving house and purchasing furniture, desktop and UGEE, my wallet and savings will be quite empty for a while. But I wont forget about you, iPad Pro...

Bournemouth Comic Con

I've never been to a comic con in my life. When training to be a dental nurse I went to a dental convention - but I imagine it's a bit different.

However, I am heavily considering to acquire a table and be in the artist alley for Bournemouth Comic Con (26-27th August). It's too soon to say if I'll have the funds, the means and the courage to go yet, but I hope it'll work out! I am super nervous.

Thoughts on my own Artbook

It is a dream of mine to publish an artbook, as my Mystery Chest Patrons know from the April Chest. I love collecting artbooks and seeing my own name on one would be absolutely fantastic.  My dream is a hardcover, foil stamped, 80 pages full colour artbook with an embossed slipcase. *dreamy sigh*

To make a great artbook however, I would need money.  For the unit price to not be ridiculously sky high, I have to order in bulk - minimum 500 books. Preferably more. I would need about 5000 USD for manufacturing alone and unfortunately I don't know how to rob banks.

Kickstarter seems like a good choice to gather the funds, but I just don't think it would be successful now.

There is no other way to say it than this: to realise this dream I need a larger follower base.
Since I'm an Excel and statistics nut, I've calculated that I need 1 year, maybe 2 with a steady growth of audience before I can launch this artbook. The longer I wait, the higher chance of success.

I hope you all will hang around to see it happen! :)

And yeah, that's pretty much it for this personal update.

Comments

So many exciting changes!! You should definitely get yourself a table and go to that comic con! Your work is gorgeous, I think you'd do so well! I use an iPad Pro for my art, it is fabulous!
