One thing I and other young people find annoying about older people, (and I suspect this has always been the case) is that like how all people, (regardless of how smart they are or whatever) tend to be kind of dismissive of things they don't understand. sometimes this manifests at looking at culture and media of younger people, coming up with some explanation that semi-pathologizes them (saying the prevelance of analouge horror is the result of media illiteracy for instance), and just running with it. You can see a similar effect when people speculate on "why are boomers like that" and they talk about lead or other shit. Its literally just a form of cultural differences, which can always be hard to understand if you don't live it. Which of course isn't to say that experience of age gives doesn't give you insight on stuff and that that couldn't be worth listening too, but you know, it can be hard to judge without hindsight. Older people like any group of people say a lot of stupid shit too (god knows my parents did about stuff I have actually lived through now) and when you are inexperienced you are ill equipped to be discerning about it.
