I absolutely love season 2 and I feel like it ended perfectly. To me, they each got exactly what they needed out of the relationship. The priest got the strongest test possible on his faith, someone he really loved, and he was able to put it aside which proved his own faith to himself. He'd had a lot of doubts recently, but this proved to him that he was on the right path for him. For Fleabag, she started the show convinced that all she was good for was sex and was extremely reluctant to let herself be vulnerable. About the most vulnerable thing you can do is tell someone you love them for the first time, especially without needing a response. She said it and just let it sit out there by itself. She found out she could love and was worthy of love, and was able to say it honestly. She did grow a lot over the two seasons and got to a point where she can be by herself, so she doesn't need us anymore. My absolute favorite season of television

2026-01-12 22:19:51 +0000 UTCI watched fleabag in 2023 and season 2 is my favorite and I watch it over again and I laugh and cry. Season 1 was important for the build up but season 2 was peak.

2025-06-17 02:20:16 +0000 UTCI’m so happy to get this all at once! I watched Fleabag for the first time in 2019 and to this day I still rewatch s2 constantly and just cry. I know you felt conflicted with the ending, especially with the priest but I felt like he was needed to help her begin to process her grief from the loss of her mom and Boo. Not so much as fix it for her. I think she needed something to help her be okay with giving love to people whether platonic or romantic, after losing what it seemed like the two people she loved the most and she felt loved her the most. Also, it’s seems from his frequent mentions of being lonely and his drinking that he’s also battling something and is looking to God and being a priest to guide him through it. I feel in the same vein Fleabag also helped him get over the final hurdle to commit to the lifestyle. That’s why I love that they didn’t end up together. They were just what they needed at the right time in their lives. Which is why the lines “I love you. It’ll pass” feels so perfect and so painful to me. I love this show and Phoebe’s writing so very much. Thank you for reacting to it!!
