Printer Error on Rough Around the Hedges

The week a book comes out is really busy and a wee bit stressful. Most of it is good stress! But some of it is...not. Events go awry, bookmarks don't show up or are damaged, bookstores that promised to stock your book forget to order it, etc. And honestly, it's frustrating, but most of it I take in stride because what else are you going to do?

But this thing...I struggled today with this speed bump. It looks as if some copies of Rough Around the Hedges were printed from an early draft. How early? Like a 30,000 word difference, I think? But what it lacks in words, it makes up for in missing scenes and typos? And honestly, I hate it. I hate that it happened. I have no idea how many were printed, either.

I tried reaching out to the printer before the book came out to make sure this didn't happen. Their response was wicked slow (the last email response took almost 2 weeks to get to me) and was basically the email equivalent of a shrug. I hate that there will be some readers who don't know it was a mistake and then decide my books aren't for them as a result. I hate that people spent their hard earned money on something that wasn't my best.

What I love? That readers (so far) have been super supportive. My readers really are the best. I know I'm horribly biased, but seriously, they are. So thank you to any of you on my social that saw the posts I posted early today and reached out to tell me to calm down and that it's okay. (You all said it much nicer than that.)

So if you got an ebook, no worries--that one's correct. If you got a paperback and it's less than 300 pages? Let me know because you got one of the bad copies. I will replace it or send you a free digital copy or whatever. Thank you all for your patience on this.
