Deck and SB guide, effective 9/7/2022
Added 2022-09-07 02:34:17 +0000 UTCHowdy everyone, here is the link to the updated Hammer list effective 9/7/22. You'll notice some small changes from last month, which I will cover below. This is 73/75 of the list that I top 4'ed the NRG 5k with, and going into an open meta, it is the list I would recommend.
Of course, make sure to adjust your mid-match decisions based on the specifics of any list you face and use this as a guideline, rather than a hard and fast rule!

Going into the open field, I expect to see ~20% Murktide, ~15% 4C piles, and then 5-8% of the field will be made up of the following (in no particular order): Burn, Rhinos, Living End, Hammer, Amulet, Yawg, Green Tron, Creativity, UW Control. After that you have a whole slew of decks of varying power levels, but people will play what they like in Modern, ESPECIALLY in paper.
-0 relics/GY hate - Still very happy with this. Without Living End, the GY hate is unnecessary, as we are strong against just about every deck that we bring in Relic against.
-2 MD Skill - I had to make room for a 17-card SB, and Skill is the most universally applicable card that I can cast off of basic plains.
-3 Lavinia - The queen has reclaimed her spot as a 3-of for a couple reasons: First, she is SO much better than the next best option almost across the board. She's better than Drannith Magistrate vs cascade because she shuts off the cascade spells, the evoke elementals, and the forces (vigor and negation)
-1 Seachrome coast, 7 fetches, 3 Hallowed Fountain - I mentioned this in my last video, and I think having the 7 lands that you can grab off of Boseiju is important enough vs the W6/Boseiju loops that it is worth the extra potential life loss. Remember, that 7 mana casts Kaldra, and that makes it a reasonable plan C or D vs 4c decks.

Hey, naming W6 with the needle. The notes to the right of Breach were just some notes I was trying out. Nothing to sweat about :)

2022-09-30 12:22:01 +0000 UTCI have a few questions about the sideboard guide. Against 4C Creativity you will bring in Needle. What do you name with it? And also the outs for otp and otd are the same in an other order. Then in the line with Underworld Breach there are 2 columns which I can´t assign to a Matchup.

2022-09-30 07:35:51 +0000 UTCNo problem! Oftentimes when I struggle against a new matchup, it has more to do with me understanding their deck and how the matchup plays out, rather than the deck being a bad matchup.
