Mid-July update

Hey everyone!

Wow, is it July already? I know that looking back it always feels faster, but here we are. My day job has wound down as of last week, so I've got a lot more time to focus on the game again. It's going to take a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things, but I'm looking forward to really being able to dedicate time toward the project. There's still a lot of story to tell, and I look forward to telling it =].

I jumped back in and implemented some of the scene scripting for the next portion of the adventure, so with the basic flow in place I can start fine-tuning the combat adjustments that were made in the last update. The addition of status effects (and the spells and items to heal them) will definitely make things more interesting than just a straight slap-fight, but I want to make sure that the focus is on the story more than the combat. This is also going to be a bit of a learning process just in figuring out how to get RPGMaker to handle fights the way that I want, but that will come in time.

So yeah, the broad strokes plan hasn't changed much. I've got a bunch of other small improvements backburnered thanks to the many lovely suggestions on the Discord, not to mention implementing some of the art assets that came through from commissions over the past few months, but the primary focus for now is getting through the next major story beat / boss fight (?!) so you all can try that out.

I will say, after working on this project for about 8 months now, I've gotten a much better feel for which parts of development that are most enjoyable, and which I just need to do because they have to get done. As long as I can keep a good balance, and don't neglect things just because I don't want to do them, things should keep coming together.

Slow and steady wins the race, in this case, so I'm just making my way. Thank you all for all your support, and I'll see you next time =]
