Mid-March update!
Added 2021-03-14 22:25:14 +0000 UTCHey everyone! I hope folks aren't too badly affected by daylight savings nonsense. As for me, I've been slowly chipping away at things in Chapter one.
Stuff that's happened in the past 2 weeks:
- Made a whole bunch of 'scholar' sprites to populate Lawrenceburg
- Wrote the scripts for a bunch of story cutscenes at the University, and began plugging them into the engine
- Wrote a new intimate scene for Amber
- Wrote an introductory scene for [redacted]
- Did a whole bunch of scripting so that the 'evening rest' event now properly recognizes who is in your party, as well as shows unique events for the first time you unlock a new intimate scene.
- Secured a website to host Channeler well as my smaller, experimental prototypes.
What's next up?:
- Finish writing and implementing the storyline cutscenes in Lawrenceburg that start us on the next leg of the adventure
- Build classes for the next 2 (!!) characters
- Add a couple of new enemies to fight, and make sure that their rewards are tuned properly.
- Build the next dungeon area. The first 'real' dungeon outside of the prologue, I'm hoping I can make this one a lot more interesting.
Another thing on the horizon is going to be purchasing a plugin library that will help me really get better customization of the core engine. I know how to code in Javascript myself, but starting from a plugin library means a lot of the hard work is already done for me, and I can focus on fine-tuning and tweaks unique to Channeler.
More specifically, the library already has support for a character "Profile" page, so I'm hoping to add a status display that shows the girls' statistics at each level. So that will be fun to get going.
TL:DR; When is the next release?
- I'm not sure about 'when' exactly, but my hope is to have a cleaned-up release version when I'm done with the introduction to Lawrenceburg. It won't have the next major combat area / dungeon, but I hope the chance for some more fun lore and scenes is something that people will enjoy.
As always, thank you all for coming along on this journey with me. Things are going to keep improving as we go, and I'm super grateful for all the support.
P.S. - I'm bad at running my own Discord server, so the link that I posted previously expired. Here's another one that has no expiration date attached! https://discord.gg/npsCrEkjHk
