Timelapse Video + Full Res 🌿Aiden Speedpaint

Hello lovely supporters 💚

In just a few hours, I’ll be heading off on a weekend road trip… to adopt the kittens! 🐾 While I’m away, I wanted to leave you with something to enjoy—a process video from one of my recent drawings.

I’ve included two versions: a quick 15-second glimpse and the full minute-long version. In real time, this piece took about three hours. You’ll also find the high-resolution version of the final artwork attached (around 3500x5000px!).

I hope you enjoy! I’m trying to build the habit of recording more of my process (though I forgot to start the recording right at the beginning this time, whoops). Let me know what you enjoy about these—if the rambles are engaging, more specifics on my process/techniques, backstory on what's being drawn, if you want more advice/tutorials... or anything else! Then again, if you are just happy to click the videos or view the art and not read through, that's fine!

Otherwise...

The past couple of weeks have been a bit of a dance with tech. I wasn’t using my main PC or studio setup for a while—my drawing tablet had a fit after a Windows + Wacom update (thankfully it’s sort of fixed now). On top of that, it’s gotten really hot here, and my upstairs studio warms up fast. To save on the electric bill (and not melt), I’ve been working downstairs more often with my old MacBook Air and iPad Pro. Very thankful to have these!

This was done then on my iPad, part of an effort to keep myself from getting too rusty. I've been focusing mostly on writing these days (trying to get Volume 1 done!). Like anything, drawing is a skill that slows without practice. In a way, it was a good reminder of this. Back a few years ago, around 2018-2022 era, I didn't do that much art. 2023 a lot of traumatic things happened, but it sorta pushed me to approach art again.

When I started Mythseeker back around January of 2024, I felt like it took the entire year to retrain myself. These days, though, I feel a lot more confident and more comfortable... but it was A LOT of work and pain to get back to this point. Consistency is really important for me to enforce, but I think having setbacks like this is good, because it equally trains me how to get back on the saddle, yeah?

I love my iPad (it’s what really helped me fall back in love with art) but my PC setup is where I usually feel most efficient and free. It handles heavier files with ease (especially when video recording is involved), and I adore the 22" screen of my Cintiq. It reminds me of painting on large traditional canvases, which is a lot of my art origins. She's a bit aged now, but still holding strong and a trooper (I've had it for a decade now!)—hoping for a couple more years before I gotta suffer with investing in something similar.

Please remember: this content is just for you, my patrons. Kindly don’t share it elsewhere. 💚

With love,
Susannah 🌿
