An Introduction

In the interest of not clogging up the About page with lots of words, I'll use this post to go into a bit more detail about myself, my work, and how I plan to approach this Patreon.

I'm Kanagen. I'm a weird neurospicy nerd whose interests lie at the intersection of the Venn diagram that is Kink, Logistics, Space, and Gay Stuff. By day, I do technical writing and narrative design as a freelancer in an industry that shall remain nameless; by night, I write science fiction and post it on the internet for nerds to enjoy.

If you want to know what my work is like, I have several complete stories available. No Gods, No Masters is a novel-length work set in the open Human Domestication Guide universe created by GlitchyRobo. If you're looking for something a little shorter, I suggest Mainspring, another HDG story. I don't only write HDG stories, but I am part of that community, so it comes up frequently, and even if it's not your jam, you should be able to get a vibe for my prose fairly quickly from those stories.

Generally speaking, I intend to upload most of what I write for free access, using various platforms like Archive of Our Own, Scribblehub, etc. This keeps things simple for me, ensures others can read my work even if they can't afford a Patreon subscription, etc. Most of what happens on the patron-only side of things here will instead focus on the behind-the-scenes aspect of writing. I'll do posts talking about how I approach the craft, ideas I'm noodling on, how I approach outlining, and so on. Drafts of stories in progress will go up early for patrons at the Under the Hood level. I'll also, when I'm getting close to finishing a long-form story, start discussing other stories I might want to move on to next, which will give patrons a chance to put a thumb on the scale for which one I actually go for. In the future, if there's sufficient demand, I may open up a new subscription tier for exclusive access to high-lewdness short stories with no pretense of plot, theme, or other author frippery I go for.
