April patreon video delay

Hi Y'all

The winning topic this month was related to funding in science and NASA versus SpaceX, and another one with a lot of votes was 'brain drain'. I wrote and filmed that video but I ended up making it a main channel video. It's going up sometime this afternoon.

So for the patreon video I am going to choose one of the other topics and post that (hopefully next week??) I am picking Bose Einstein Condensates unless any of you all have incredibly strong opinions about what the video should be instead. (Comment below)

Hope everyone is well!

Delivery is not Digiorno

I don't really know what I'm doing here, but I'll say this. Science is the truth. Politics is lies.

Just joined, so apologize if I'm out of left field. I was just watching the Simon Whisler side projects about 6 or 7 ways earth might go through another extinction. Made me think about something I have heard before (maybe here?) about what would be left of humans. I think it's interesting backwards thought experiment. We know what we're like, but what would survive buried for millions of years, and then what would it tell the future about us as it's dug up. Reverse dino bones walk through. Just a thought. If I have to vote, I vote for mentoring one below.

BECs; you can even make one at home - https://www.open-quantum.org/

@SamThede your OP got deleted. We need to rally and protect. Our protégé (what’s the opposite of patréon?) is going to attract targeting from the enemies of truth. Ticks all their boxes. They’ll even get in here.

Point the money hose where it’s needed! I’m learning that we can be as effective with 1/1000th of the money, because faith and passion doesn’t exist on the other side. At least not with those bankrolling it. They can temporarily engage fans of bacon, but bacon fans’ hearts are up for sale.

To be fair, those rabbit holes with superfluid vacuums are really hard to get out of.

Loving a bit of Bose-Einstein Condensates, memories of being the only kid at school to know about “plasma” — do we call these a “state” or a “phase”? My school teachers in the 1970s and 80s said “state”, but most of my life on the internet was “phase” in the 2000s and 2010s. But since the 2020s I notice it’s “states of matter” again.

I'm very pro-BEC. I'm an old superfluid helium person, so it's near and dear to me.

Is there a survey form that I am missing? If so where do I find it?

Ajinkya Kokandakar

BECs are one of my favorite things in physics. Unfortunately it also makes me prone to go down the superfluid vacuum rabbit hole. It's the one thing I'm kinda a crackpot about

EM B

You really dialed it up to 11 with the Functioning Government video. Best thing I've watched this year! It makes the most sense on the main channel. Amazing content as usual, looking forward to some BEC action :)

The Germ

It makes total sense that the "Space X + brain drain" video went in the main channel. People need to hear this. When you put out videos of that kind, I am reminded of how proud I am of supporting you on Patreon.

Maybe just make things simpler for yourself: simply map out an agenda of videos for the coming months instead of a messier system which seems to keep you uncertain of what the next month will bring. Just a suggestion (obviously).

Max Sonthonax

Holy shit! Two cakes!?

Xilon Xiao

I dunno, but a topic highlighted in the popsci news was InTeRnEt QuAnTuM. So like, maybe go into that?

Charles Wheeler

Bro is complaining that we get an extra (free) video this month. Also, you don't know her/her life? Maybe butt out? This comment gives off weird parasocial vibes

Sam Thede

Did she say flower point presentation?

William Wallace

Hope you’re doing well too! I’m an undergrad getting a degree in Chemistry and just wanted to say thanks for your content. It wasn’t too long ago I was in an associate’s degree nursing program, and you talking about how you took the plunge into physics motivated me to explore my interest in STEM further despite my real lack of preparation or exposure to any previous formal STEM education. I’m hoping to be PHD bound after I graduate, we’ll see! Also originally from KY too!

Jack Rigdon

I picked Bose Einstein Condensates so this makes me very happy!

Dominik Dalek

Nope I’m just here to learn and have fun watching you nerd out about your field. Few things are more satisfying than seeing someone talk about something cool that they are passionate about.

Max Sonthonax

Sounds great! Thanks for the content.

Sarah Kaylor

That's great. I was about to suggest Bose Einstein Condensate for another month before I moved on. I'm really fascinated by the recent experiments with it.

Tony Peluso

No worries!

GX Lopez

Sounds good!

Berry

looking forward to it

Cras

Can you consider Thorium Reactors for the future?

Mike Adams

No worries here!

regex

I choose to see this as getting two videos for the price of one so I'm all for it!

Brock English

Bose Einstein condensates sounds great!

Adam Philip

No issues.

Isabel and Lukas' dad

All good here Angela thanks for asking. Sounds fine to me - I love all your vids. What happened with the plug in?

Robbie Warren

At first I was disappointed, but Bose Einstein condensates? That's another matter entirely!
