Top D&D Tip Tweets for May 2019
The following are the five most retweeted and liked tweets of the thirtyish #dnd tips I posted to Twitter over the past month.
"I’m a player who has trouble keeping my attention on a game, particularly if I have trouble hearing it. I combat this by drawing maps and taking notes. It really helps draw you into the game. If you’re a D&D player, consider putting the phone down and taking notes."
"#dnd tip: Take a sharpie and mark the rules in your book that have been updated with errata. Fear not writing in your books. Remember the potions book of the Half-Blood Prince."
People loved that one...
"#dnd tip: Build story ideas from old mythological folklore. Seek out Celtic, Greek, African, Native American, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and Authorian legends."
"#dnd tip: The night of or the morning after your game, spend ten minutes writing down what happened in the last session."
"#dnd tip: Delegate rules responsibility to your players. You need not carry that burden by yourself."

Obviously I'm very excited about the new offerings from Wizards of the Coast for D&D later this year. I'm particularly excited for the D&D Essentials Kit which will include a new level 1 to 6 adventure written by Chris Perkins. It's due out in June at Target and September everywhere else.
Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, due in September, looks awesome as well. Mad Max Fury Road in hell is a hard hook to beat. I'll likely be running that one after I'm done with Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Speaking of, Ghosts of Saltmarsh came out this past week. In my initial read-through it looks great. In particular, they managed to pack a huge campaign summary in a section called the Dreadwood that can likely help a DM turn this level 13 adventure into one that goes all the way to 20. I love the way this campaign adventure is built to scale up beyond the contents within the book. I ordered the Beadle and Grimm version of this adventure too and look forward to running it for both of my groups.
If you're into terrain, the folks at Axe N' Shield have a Kickstarter campaign going on for their combat risers. These are cool ways to lift up parts of your terrain, including Dwarven Forge pieces, to build 3d areas. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Zatnikotel on DeviantArt released one million square feet of battlemaps usable for virtual tabletops. It's a hell of an interconnected dungeon and all available for free.
Fantastic Adventures: Ruins of the Grendleroot
Next week I'll be launching the Kickstarter for Fantastic Adventures: Ruins of the Grendleroot! I talked about it in last month's newsletter. Ruins of the Grendleroot is a book of ten short adventures centered on the exploration of ancient secrets within a mysterious mountain sundered by an otherworldly essence known as the Grendleroot. The adventures are for levels 1 to 5 with a mini-campaign available by linking five of the adventures together. I can't wait to show it off to the world. In the mean time, enjoy some artwork for the book by Jack Kaiser and a map for one of the adventures by Elven Tower.
Thank you all again for your wonderful support!
