Ch-29 The River Country Team

After a long wait, the day for the Chunin exam has finally arrived.

At this time outside the residence of Uchiha Emiko and others.

Emiko spoke reassuringly, "There's no need to be afraid of anything. Your job is to simply give it your all, and leave the rest to us. Besides, there's nobody who should be able to stand against you in this fight."

Subsequently, they proceeded towards the location where the written exams were to be held.

At last, the group consisting of 30 ninja affiliated with Uchiha Karan's side arrived at the location of the written exams.

Person 1 asked, "Who are these individuals?"

Person 2 inquired, "To which village do they belong?"

Person 3 remarked, "They do not even possess a forehead protector."

A young man with white hair and glasses stated, "They hail from the River Country. I have heard that they are a special team dispatched by the Daimyo of that region."

Kabuto Yakushi, the white-haired boy with glasses, was accompanied by Uchiha Itachi, Anko Mitarashi, Uzuki Yugao, and other Konoha ninja. A total of 12 Konoha ninja, including them, took part in the Chunin exam.

One Genin from the Grass Village asked with a smirk on his face and balled fists to appear menacing, "Hey, who are you?"

The individuals from the River Country ignored his attempt at provocation and acted as if he did not exist. Witnessing this, the Genin from the Grass Village felt ashamed and punched Jake, who was standing at the forefront. However, before the blow landed on Jake's face, he blocked it and then retaliated by breaking the Genin's hand.

Jake replied with a stoic expression, "You inquired about our identities, but I believe you are already aware of who we are. Our leader Karan had almost wiped out all the Jonins in your village four years ago, am I correct?"

Upon hearing Jake's words, most of the Genin present were left confused. Only a few more experienced Genin, who had been in the ninja profession for some time, had heard of Uchiha Karan and his notorious deeds.

Anko inquired, "Do you have any information about him?"

"Yes," Kabuto replied while adjusting his glasses, "Uchiha Karan was a missing ninja on the night of the Nine Tails attack. During his escape, he killed numerous elite Jonin and Jonins of Konoha before fleeing to the River Country. It is rumored that he is the true ruler of the region, although nothing has been confirmed. Later, he fought a bounty hunter named Undead Kakuzu, whose strength was comparable to that of a Kage from one of the major villages, and in the end, Kakuzu had to retreat to save his own life. After that, Karan went to the Grass Village and almost annihilated all of their Jonins and Chunins. Despite that, he remained active and hunted many missing ninjas with a bounty on their heads. However, no one has heard anything about him in nearly a year, but many people know that he has five generals under him who possess the strength of elite Jonin, and there are many soldiers under his command. These individuals that we are encountering right now may be some of those soldiers."

Kabuto's explanation left everyone present in shock as they now had a better understanding of who these individuals really were. Even Itachi, who typically remained composed, glanced over at Kabuto. Jake then turned to Kabuto and commented, "Your ability to gather intelligence is impressive." Following that, Jake and the other soldiers went to a corner and waited for the exams to commence.

The group remained silent regarding the individuals from the River Country and settled in to wait. After half an hour, a Jonin from Sunagakure arrived and announced the rules of the written exams. "Everyone, the rules of the written exam are as follows: anyone who scores over 80% will qualify for the second round. However, there is a caveat: if any member of your team fails to meet this requirement, the entire team will be disqualified."

Upon hearing this announcement, the group remained silent.

One of the Genins spoke up, "What kind of exam is this? Why should we be disqualified if our teammate doesn't perform well?"

"This exam is very good."commented Itachi. Anko was somewhat confused after listening to Itachi.

"Itachi is right," added Kabuto. "This exam is designed to test not only our individual intelligence but also our ability to work as a team."

"That's right," Max chimed in. "During a mission, you have to think about the whole team, not just yourself."

"Alright everyone, please enter the exam room. The exam will start in 10 minutes," the Jonin announced.

Different individuals tried various methods to cheat during the exam, but Uchiha Karan's soldiers wrote their papers without any cheating. They had been trained in combat for four years, so the questions were easy for them.

After half an hour, the exam ended, and everyone left the exam room. They had to wait another half hour for the results to be announced. It wasn't a surprise that everyone from the River country passed the exam without any difficulty.

Three teams from Konoha passed the exam successfully, but one team was disqualified as one of their teammates failed to score the required marks. Similar incidents happened to several other teams resulting in their elimination from the competition.

Baki arrived and instructed everyone to follow him to the location of the second round of the exam. He led them to the venue where the second round was to take place.

Upon reaching the venue for the second exam, the candidates were greeted with the presence of Jonin from various villages.

When the Jonin from different villages saw that no one from River country had been eliminated, they were shocked because it was highly unlikely that everyone had passed without any issues.

"It seems that everyone from your side are very good Genins."said Uchiha Shisui looking towards Uchiha Emiko.

"They receive rigorous training every day and also have their benefits for it. So it's natural that they all passed," said Uchiha Emiko.

"Yes, hard work is always necessary for success." replied Uchiha Emiko with a smile.

"They certainly do. Their selection criteria were based not only on talent but also on the willpower to work hard. They know that if they don't work hard, there are many other talented individuals who could take their place," replied Uchiha Hiroshi.
