The reason Mark was doing so much better against the hired villains is most likely because he's significantly stronger than all the Guardians put together 2. The reason the Guardians were suddenly going better was because they were finally fighting as a team 3. Battle Beast (the talking cat) very much did not leave because the odds weren't in his favour. Considering how easily he handled Mark, it's safe to say that the Guardians should consider themselves very lucky that they were so little of a threat to him that he got bored and left 4. In case there was still any doubt that Nolan was in full control of his actions from the start he very much watched his son get beaten to near death without intervening. All he did was tip off a group of heroes far weaker than himself 5. Becoming a hero probably wasn't a viable career option for Titan as, unless you're in one of the top teams, being a hero seems more akin to volunteer work in this universe, and wouldn't pay his bills
