Other stuff

Because I forgot to reset my alarm for Monday mornings after the previous week’s holiday, I was woken early this morning. My routine is so ingrained once my alarm sounds that I was at my computer, all the previous things done when something registered as off. And it took me way longer than it should to realize it was an hour earlier than I thought. It also took me a while to work out how that could be, since I was confident my alarm had woken me.

Monday morning I gave away my defecting Charybdis boards, along with the half-done kit I attempted to build, to an enthusiast builder in my area. He’s man who had fixed one of them the last time a side broke(it broke again the next day, but it was an unrelated problem, so not his fault) I needed to make space on my shelves and them, in their boxes weren’t serving me, so I was planning on just throwing them out before remembering to contact him to see if he wanted them. He did.

He kept me appraised of the repairs telling me that the price for them would be that he could keep in of the sets. I told him to keep everything, but he insisted on returning the repaired ones to me, which he did yesterday. I offered to pay him for the repairs and he insisted the parts he was taking were enough.

This means I have three fully working Charybdis keyboards(pending a full test and all that) at least one of with I did a quick test to confirm all the keys worked, since those dying tends to be the way they fail with me. I’ll be testing it over the weekend and setting it up for next week’s writing.

This is a good demonstration of why I do my best not to ‘freak out’ when things don’t go my way. In the long run, if I keep going, do what I can to function, thing pretty much always work out in some way in my favor. This doesn’t work if I just sit on my ass and wait(or I wasn’t patient enough when I tried) me either doing what I can to resolve it, or move on is alway needed, but in time, a version of what I want happens.

I thought it was me putting together the approximation to the Charybdis I built, but it turns out that was just me making myself a backup for if/when the Charybdis fail to the point they can’t be repaired.

That’s basically it.
