You And Me And The Restructured Patreon Fees

Hey guys. You probably saw this blowing up on Twitter, and if not, you probably got the email about the changes to Patreon fees.

To say I disagree with this change is putting it very mildly, and the timing feels like an extra kick in the teeth to me personally. I'm sorry I haven't posted about it sooner, but if I'm honest most of what I'd say has been said better already by others and I'm still semi-hopeful the considerable backlash will force Patreon to reconsider before this gets implemented December 18.

I've already lost quite a few Patrons (mostly $1 Patrons, naturally, because they/you are disproportionately penalized by these proposed changes), but it's been nothing compared with the casualties larger Patreons have seen in the past 24 hours.

I'm here to say: if you gotta bail I understand 100% but I'm going to wait, personally, and see if this proposed change gets walked back before I do anything terribly drastic. Patreon has been a huge boon for me and my family, and my appreciation for all you've given back to me is huge.

If you are thinking of canceling your Patreon pledge because you're unwilling or unable to roll with these new fees but feel guilty about it please consider supporting me via PayPal or Ko-fi instead; looking forward I'm eager to see what Drip has to offer when it leaves beta.
