Changes to the End Credits
Added 2024-02-13 18:29:09 +0000 UTCI really appreciate all of you. I love creating these videos so thank you so much. I wanted to give you a heads up regarding some changes you'll notice in the credits starting today.
Up until now I have included everyone in each credit sequence. For awhile that made sense, but over the last year the number of supporters has started to regularly hit 700 (Patreon + YouTube members) and that makes the credits sequence run for roughly 8 minutes. Either each person is recognized on screen for a split second or I have to pad the ending of all my videos.
YouTube's algorithm does not look kindly on videos where people click off with time remaining. Because of that I don't want to just pad the endings of all my videos with credits where I don't speak. I also don't want to artificially bloat the ending of each video with 5-6 minutes of me rambling. I want to keep each video as concise as is possible while still going into detail about everything that occurs within the run.
I experimented with placing the credits at the beginning - there isn't enough time or space there either. I also experimented with removing / condensing the special thanks portion; but this has little impact on the credits overall. Of course, I could re-invent the sequence entirely, but that would take significant time and I don't have that available to me right now. Also, I really like the current aesthetic. I think you do too.
For the next cycle of releases I will be including the Pokedex from the region the video took place in. That means in Kanto we will see supporters with dex number 1-151, Johto we will see 152-251 etc. There will be a long outro at some point and that will give me creative space to include other supporters so that all 700~ are included at least once a month.
This solution feels like the best balance between: YouTube's algorithm, on screen recognition, and aesthetics. If you feel this isn't sufficient recognition of your contributions, please let me know - if that is the case then I will seriously consider revising the entire structure of the credits so that everyone can be included in each video.
Thanks for being a great community, you're all incredible.

I pretty much just watch to see how many people that there are. It’s always been cool that you do any sort of ah end credits at all, so this idea is more than fine.

2024-02-14 02:51:06 +0000 UTCI like the idea of having multiple pokemon scroll across the screen at the same time. Could even do a whole grid, like 4x5 or something to really condense it down.

2024-02-13 22:07:33 +0000 UTCI feel the 'matching region' approach isn't a fair representation across all supporters. Even assuming an even distribution of gen 1-4 videos (and I think the earlier gens are still a majority). Gen5+ would be underrepresented, and not even have a 'special spotlight' time like the other gens when they get a playthrough. Showing more pokemon at the same time, possibly running through the screen on multiple imaginary lanes could also make things quicker. Maybe that could be an option?

2024-02-13 21:20:09 +0000 UTCI wouldn't mind if you drop the list entirely, as I support for the content. But if you want to keep them you could just do what other larger video creators do and have the spotlight position for a larger support tier and just a list for the rest.

2024-02-13 18:39:18 +0000 UTCThat sounds like the best solution to me. Whilst I can only speak for myself I support you because of your video quality, not because I get to see my name (though it is appreciated) Quick question though, since you're running gen 1 to 4 at the moment what would you do with the people in the unovan Dex and beyond? Edit: please ignore the question, it was answered in the post
