Progress report

Hi everyone,

First off, thanks for all of the feedback on the most recent demo release. The feedback highlighted a few important places to focus on when optimizing, especially for lower-end graphics cards. I've been buried in code for the last couple of weeks, working out some of the bugs that were reported and tackling some much-needed general cleanup of the codebase. It’s a grind, but it’s all about maintaining a strong foundation moving forward.

On the project front, I’m excited to share that I’ve brought in some third-party help to tackle the combat system, and it's finally starting to swim along. Having the extra help has allowed me to focus effort into another important feature: the dialog system. This will let you interact with NPCs, quest-givers, and other characters in the world, adding a whole new layer of immersion. It will be ready to roll out in the next demo release (tentative target: two weeks), so you’ll get to test it firsthand soon!

I'm truly excited about how thing are shaping up. SIREN (and mermaid games in general) hold a treasure trove of untapped narrative potential and innovative gameplay opportunities. Thanks for being a part of this journey!
